Reporting to the global CHRO and as a member of the global HR leadership team, her key responsibilities include leading the implementation of the people strategy, policies, and practices within Asia Pacific.

Global material solutions company Sibelco Group has welcomed Anjali Menon (pictured above) to the role of Asia Pacific Human Resources Director, effective October 2023 and reporting to Global CHRO Karine Parent.

Continuing to be based in Malaysia, the leader joins the company from her previous role as Human Resources Director, Dutch Lady Milk Industries, Malaysia.

Sharing about her current role with HRO, Anjali said as a part of the global HR leadership team of Sibelco, her key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the implementation of the people strategy, policies, and practices within the APAC region, to support the long-term business needs and success;
  • Partnering with leaders for key people decisions based in APAC, and
  • Being in-charge of specific global projects/programmes or frame as a member of the HR leadership team.

"At Sibelco, we have a strong belief that the talent of our people and their contribution to our organisation are key differentiators for our long-term profitability and growth," she tells us.

In that vein, she adds, her number one priority in the year would be to "unlock Sibelco’s potential in Asia Pacific by providing an engaging workplace and growth opportunities for our people, through a performance-oriented culture."

Against the backdrop of this announcement, we picked Anjali's brains for a quick look at key trends that would be shaping her priorities: the number one talent concern facing the region and industry, and top area of talent opportunity she's looking to leverage.

Q What is the number one talent concern in the region and/or the industry at the moment?

Widening skills gap and increasing generational divide are two key concerns we need to address through robust capability building and succession planning.

Q At the same time, what is the number one area of opportunity, in terms of talent, that you're looking to leverage?

Sibelco is a 150-year-old company with strong values including practices deeply rooted in sustainability. The company has gone through digital transformation and embraced it fully across all processes and practices.

Talent today is driven by purpose and seeks digital forward approach, we have great opportunity in these areas to leverage our strengths.
