From “peacemaker” and “bridge” to “catalyst” and “workforce architect”, HR leaders in Singapore share the one word they believe best captures the heart of the profession.
- With inputs by Sarah Gideon.
HR is often described in many ways: strategic, complex, empathetic, transformative, and much more. But if you had to sum up the profession in just one word, what would it be?
In celebration of HR Day 2026 (Wednesday, 20 May), Human Resources Online invited 12 HR leaders attending our InteracTech Asia 2026 to answer exactly that.
Their responses capture the many dimensions of HR today – from championing employee wellbeing and navigating change, to enabling business growth and shaping workplace culture.
Whether rooted in empathy, resilience, purpose, or people, each word offers a personal reflection of what the profession means to those who live and breathe it every day.
As we commemorate HR Day 2026, these reflections serve as a reminder that while HR roles may vary across organisations and industries, they remain united by a shared commitment to people.
