The new centre, slated to be fully operational in Q3 2022, will provide shared functions and corporate services such as HR, to further support the company's growth in the Asia Pacific region.
Chocolate and cocoa products manufacturer Barry Callebaut has announced its plans to open a business excellence centre in Malaysia.
Expected to be fully operational in the third quarter of 2022, the new centre will be located in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. According to the company, this new location makes it easily accessible from the group's existing cocoa and chocolate factory located in Port Klang, Selangor, where the company has built shared functions and corporate services capabilities over the past few years.
The centre will provide shared functions and corporate services such as human resources to further support the company's growth in the Asia Pacific region. Approximately 115 employees are expected to move from the Port Klang site to the new location.
According to the group, this new location will offer employees a flexible work environment to promote a healthy and collaborative work life. Barry Callebaut also expects to hire additional talents in the near future to further support its growth in the region.
Meanwhile, it will continue to operate its chocolate and cocoa factory in Port Klang, Selangor, and an additional cocoa factory in Pasir Gudang, Johor.
Commenting on the new centre, Jo Thys, President Asia Pacific of Barry Callebaut, said the new Asia Pacific business excellence centre will create business benefits such as further standardisation of processes, and increased operational efficiency to make the company more competitive.
"It will support our growth and help us maintain our leadership position in the Region. Thanks to this world-class facility, we will continue to attract talents from Malaysia, and the rest of the world, to join us in providing chocolate happiness to the people in the Asia Pacific."
The Asia Pacific business excellence centre completes the group's footprint in Malaysia, which includes both its cocoa and chocolate businesses.
