Residents are required to have been in Macao for at least 183 days in 2024 to qualify for the payment.
The Macao SAR Government has announced a new condition for its 2025 edition of the Wealth Partaking Scheme.
In addition to the existing identity requirements, both permanent and non-permanent Macao residents are required to have been in the SAR for at least 183 days in 2024 to qualify for the payment.
However, exemptions will be granted for the following three specific groups:
- Individuals who were under 22 years old in 2024, with one of their parents being eligible to receive the 2025 cash handout;
- Individuals who are receiving disability pensions;
- Individuals who are receiving disability allowances.
Additionally, individuals who are outside of Macao under any of the following eight circumstances can have their time out of the SAR counted toward the residency requirement:
- Studying abroad for recognised higher education progammes;
- Hospitalisation;
- Aged 65 years old or above and residing in Mainland China, or under 65 and residing in the Mainland for health reasons;
- Working abroad for an employer registered with the Social Security Fund;
- Working abroad to support the main living expenses of family members living in Macao;
- Performing official duties;
- Residing, working, or studying recognised higher or non-higher education progammes in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin;
- Working in a mainland city within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
If they meet the 183-day requirement after calculation, they will be eligible for the payment.
According to the policy address earlier announced by Macao’s Chief Executive Sam Hou, under the 2025 Wealth Partaking Scheme, each eligible permanent Macao resident will receive MOP$10,000, and each non-permanent resident will receive MOP$6,000.
Payments will be distributed starting 15 July 2025.
