The Australian tea retailer will close its three stores across Singapore, while continuing to serve customers online and through wholesale channels in the region.
Premium Australian tea specialist T2 Tea will be closing all of its retail outlets in Singapore, according to a report by The Business Times (BT).
The brand, founded in 1996 in Melbourne, currently operates three stores in Singapore, located at 313@Somerset, Suntec City, and VivoCity. Its first flagship store in the city-state opened in 2017 as part of its broader expansion into Asia.
In response to queries from BT, a spokesperson for T2 Tea said that the Singapore stores will close at the end of March as their “current leases reach their conclusion”. The last day of operations is set for 25 March.
The spokesperson added that the company is "reviewing and resetting" its retail property portfolio in Asia, “which remains an important growth area”.
As reported by BT, despite the physical store closures, customers in Singapore and across South-east Asia will still be able to purchase T2 Tea products through its online store, with transactions available in local currencies. The company said this will allow it to “serve the region more broadly” as it continues to invest in Asia and expand into more markets.
From a workforce perspective, BT reported, the company said its priority is to support its Singapore team through the transition. It added that Singapore will remain "an important part" of its community.
All three outlets are currently holding clearance sales, with products offered at 30% off ahead of the closures.
