The appointments bring together experienced external hires and long-serving internal leaders to support the region's next phase of growth.
Mastercard has announced six senior leadership appointments across key markets and functions in Asia Pacific as it strengthens its regional leadership bench and prepares for the next phase of growth.
The appointments bring together a combination of external expertise and long-serving internal talent with deep institutional knowledge, reinforcing the company's ability to expand across AI-enabled commerce, commercial and B2B payments, and data-driven services.
The senior leadership appointments include:
- Joyce Bo, who joined Mastercard on 3 August 2026 as Executive Vice President, Core Payments, Asia Pacific, leading the company's Core Payments business across the region.
- Abhinav Bhatt, who assumed the role of General Counsel, Asia Pacific, in April after serving as Assistant General Counsel for Mastercard's global Commercial and New Payment Flows organisation in Purchase, New York.
- Dr Peter Robejsek, formerly Country Manager for Germany, who took up the role of Executive Vice President, Market Development, Asia Pacific, in March, leading strategic partnerships with merchants, acquirers, fintechs, governments, and regulators.
- Paul Monnington, who joined Mastercard in January as Division President, Australasia, overseeing the company's business across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands.
Mastercard has also introduced a new two-division leadership structure in Southeast Asia, effective 1 July 2026, to strengthen customer focus across markets with diverse economic profiles and digital maturity.
Under the new structure:
- Beena Pothen, previously Country Manager for Malaysia and Brunei, has been appointed Division President, West Southeast Asia, leading Mastercard's business across Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.
- Donald Ong, most recently Senior Vice President, Services Business Development, Asia Pacific, has been appointed Division President, East Southeast Asia, responsible for Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
Commenting on the appointments, Richard Wormald, President, Asia Pacific, Mastercard, said: “Together, these leaders bring deep experience across payments, technology, financial services, and markets throughout Asia Pacific, strengthening our ability to deliver the capabilities customers and partners need today while helping them prepare for what’s next.”
