The new Singapore-based facility will aim to support programme transfers to Asia from major European semiconductor and life sciences customers.
Frencken Group, together with its subsidiaries, held a groundbreaking ceremony at Kaki Bukit Avenue 5, Singapore, on 12 August 2025, for its upcoming manufacturing facility. The development will expand and consolidate the Group’s Mechatronics operations in Singapore.
Construction is set to begin in Q3 2025 and complete by Q1 2027. Relocation and consolidation of Mechatronics Singapore’s operations will be carried out in phases. With an estimated cost of S$63mn, the new facility will span 28,594 square metres — about 1.4 times the size of its current combined sites at Changi North and Seletar Aerospace Link.
The facility will support higher operational efficiencies, expanded production capacity, and new business opportunities. Wang Liang Horng, Managing Director and Vice President of Frencken Mechatronics Asia, said cleanroom assembly capacity is projected to triple to meet upcoming programmes. He added that investments in advanced technologies and state-of-the-art equipment will enhance the company’s ability to deliver ultra-high precision and ultra-clean assemblies required in wafer fabrication equipment and analytical life sciences sectors.
Dennis Au, President of Frencken, added: "We are excited to embark on this strategic initiative which will set the stage for Mechatronics Singapore’s next chapter of growth. Frencken’s investment underscores our commitment and confidence in Singapore’s ongoing growth into a significant and vibrant semiconductor hub. We foresee continued development of the country’s semiconductor ecosystem as it remains a prime investment location for companies across the value chain."
Lionel Lim, Vice President and Head, Technology Hardware and Equipment, EDB, also shared: "With the expanded manufacturing capacity and enhancement of its local capabilities, Frencken will be able to better serve global markets and high-growth industries like semiconductor and life sciences.
"EDB looks forward to deepening our partnership with Frencken and other like-minded companies to grow their operations and create skilled jobs in Singapore.”
The new facility is also expected to support programme transfers to Asia from semiconductor and life sciences customers in Europe.
