The hub currently employs more than 200 people and will support the addition of key roles based in Singapore.
Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) has named Singapore as its new Pan Asia Cluster (PAC) hub, a move aimed at accelerating patient access and innovation across the region while expanding its Singapore-based talent base.
The announcement coincides with BMS’s 60th anniversary in Singapore and is supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB). The new hub will oversee markets including Hong Kong & Macau, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
BMS said the hub currently employs more than 200 people and will support the addition of key roles based in Singapore. The company said the move is intended to strengthen regional capabilities, support partnerships and improve access to medicines across the region.
Steve Sugino, Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific at BMS, said Singapore’s role has grown in line with the company’s regional priorities.
“Our 60-year legacy in Singapore is proof of our long-term commitment to bringing innovative medicines to patients here and across the region. Establishing Singapore as a Pan Asia Cluster hub reflects the growing importance of the region in our global strategy.
"We value our work with partners like the Singapore Economic Development Board to support the growth of a vibrant life sciences ecosystem and, most importantly, improve patient access to innovative medicines for years to come,” he added.
Talent and regional capabilities
The designation of Singapore as the PAC hub adds to the country’s role as a regional base for multinational life sciences companies. For BMS, the move places functions supporting multiple Asian markets in Singapore, including regional leadership and specialist roles linked to clinical research, market access and commercial operations.
EDB said the decision reflects Singapore’s position as a base for biomedical companies developing regional strategies.
“We congratulate Bristol Myers Squibb on its 60th anniversary in Singapore and welcome its continued growth here. The establishment of its new Pan Asia Cluster hub adds to Singapore’s vibrant biomedical sciences ecosystem and reinforces our role as a trusted base for companies to drive innovation and regional strategies.
"We look forward to deepening our partnership with Bristol Myers Squibb as it advances clinical research and brings innovative medicines to patients in Singapore and across the region,” said Ho Weng Si, Executive Vice President at EDB.
Clinical research activity
BMS currently has more than 60 clinical trials across the Pan Asia Cluster region. The company said five new trials are targeted to begin in Singapore by the end of 2026. The hub is also expected to support its clinical research activity and patient access efforts across the region. These areas are particularly relevant in fields such as oncology, where earlier diagnosis and access to treatment can affect patient outcomes.
