Malaysia employers urged to support EPF withdrawals for non-Malaysian employees

EPF reminds employers to ensure that employees’ passport details registered with EPF are accurate and match the information used for their bank accounts.

Employers in Malaysia have an important role in ensuring that Employees Provident Fund (EPF) savings arrangements for non-Malaysian citizen employees are carried out smoothly and in an orderly manner.

To support the process, EPF is encouraging employers to ensure that non-Malaysian employees maintain an active bank account that can be used for salary payments and EPF savings withdrawals, including the Leaving the Country Withdrawal.

Employers should also ensure that employees’ passport details registered with EPF are accurate and match the information used for their bank accounts.

EPF said this is because accurate and matching passport details, alongside an active bank account, are essential to ensure EPF savings withdrawal payments can be processed smoothly and according to established procedures.

In addition, employers should remind employees to keep their bank accounts active until all EPF savings withdrawal applications and related payment transactions have been completed.

For non-Malaysian employees who are preparing to leave Malaysia, employers are encouraged to advise them to submit their Leaving the Country Withdrawal applications as early as possible after obtaining the Check-Out Memo or following the cancellation of their work pass.

EPF reminded that early submission can help employees complete the withdrawal process before leaving the country and minimise potential delays in receiving their EPF savings; and that their support in maintaining accurate employee records, ensuring active bank accounts, and encouraging timely withdrawal applications will help facilitate a smoother EPF withdrawal process for non-Malaysian employees.
