HR Practitioner Appointments

Salio Shiu joins Turner Broadcasting System as a Payroll Manager

Shiu took up the role at Turner (Turner Broadcasting System, Inc) in November 2017 based in Hong Kong, moving away from her previous role as the regional HR payroll advisor at Universal Music Group. Prior to that, she was the senior payroll auditor for the Asia Pacific region at Abercrombie & Fitch.

Speaking to Human Resources, Shiu explained: "My role is managing the company’s payroll operations for the Asia Pacific region, ensuring compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements, and managing the service provided by third party payroll providers, in collaboration with the company's HR, finance, accounting and treasury departments."

Job moves at Facebook

Ken Hoskin takes up a new role at FacebookEffective September 2017, Hoskin has joined Facebook to serve as the HRBP for emerging markets, leaving his previous role as Head of APAC Talent at Airbnb. Prior to that, Hoskin was the regional chief talent officer at McCann Worldgroup. Based in Singapore, in his new role at Facebook, he is responsible assisting in-house talent to develop themselves and developing the organisation to build communities and bring the world closer together.

Pei Lim Tay joins Facebook from UOBAs of November 2017, Tay has joined Facebook as a Singapore-based recruiter for the APAC sales and marketing team, leaving her role as a talent acquisition professional within the human resources function at United Overseas Bank (UOB). Prior to that, Tay was a senior consultant with Robert Walters.


HR Solutions Provider Appointments

Chris Wong moves within the Marriott brandsPreviously the learning development manager at The St. Regis Langkawi, Wong has now taken up the role of complex human resources manager at The St. Regis Langkawi and The Westin Langkawi Resort and Spa. Prior to that, Wong was with Pullman Hotels & Resorts in the role of Development Manager. In her new role at The St. Regis Langkawi and The Westin Langkawi Resort and Spa, Wong will remain based in Langkawi, Malaysia.

Bruce Leung is an associate consultant at KOS InternationalBased in Hong Kong, Leung was appointed to the role in October 2017, moving away from his previous role as research assistant at The University of Hong Kong. Prior to that he was a human resources summer intern at Jardine Engineering Corporation from June 2016 to August 2016 and a human resources summer intern at JOS from June 2015 to July 2015.

Nurul Naseron takes on an additional role at Juris TechnologiesBased in Malaysia, effective November 2017, Naseron has taken up an additional role as the lead, Heros training Academy at Juris Technologies while retaining her management responsibilities of the company she founded in 2006 - Divine Talent Management. Prior to this, Naseron was a manager - learning design, group leadership and talent at Sime Darby from December 2016 to August 2017.

Nick Fawbert is the CEO and founder at Cadenza CommunicationsIn November 2017, Fawbert took on an additional role as CEO and founder of Cadenza Communications. Fawbert has previously founded two companies - Creator Collective Asia in 2015, and Mutiny Consulting in 2016 - in addition to being a lecturer in marketing at IME - International Management Education, and a board director at the Asia Content Marketing Association.

Elaborating about his new company, Fawbert told Human Resources: “ At Cadenza we focus on key inflection points in talent acquisition, development, enhancement and retention through short form inspirational and educational videos. We recognise that modern business is heavily dependent upon business canvassing and referrals from inspired, experienced and capable internal teams, so we set out to deliver these with structured, scripted and engaging videos at broadcast quality.
