Cathay Pacific manager caught taking upskirt photos of stewardess

A flight attendant reported to the police on Monday after she was sexually harassed by a manager last Friday.

The victim who was on ground duties due to pregnancy was called in by the manager to help fix his computer.  As she bent down to check on the computer, she found the manager putting his iphone near her skirt.  She immediately demanded the manager to stop and reported the case to management.

The Oriental Daily reported that management had assured the victim that an internal investigation will be carried out.  She decided to alert the police two days later after disusing the issue with her husband who is a Cathay Pacific pilot.

On Monday, she was accompanied by representative from Cathay Pacific Airways Flight Attendants Union to report the case to the police.

The suspect, 39, an American was later arrested for accessing a computer with criminal or dishonest intent.  He was released on a bail and must report back next month.

Chairwoman of the union Dora Lai told Oriental Daily that the charge placed doesn’t reflect the seriousness of the crime committed. “The case shows that local laws are outdated.  How is taking upskirt photos related to accessing a computer with criminal or dishonest intent?” she said.

The case which took place at the South Tower of Cathay City on Scenic Road the is being investigated by an airport district investigation team.

A police source told the South China Morning Post  a picture of the victim was found in the suspect’s mobile phone. They have yet to determine if there were other victims.

A Cathay Pacific spokesman told Human Resources Magazine that the airline is aware of an alleged case of sexual harassment involving two members of staff.

“We do not tolerate any form of harassment and take this issue very seriously. An urgent internal inquiry has been launched and we supported the staff concerned to report the matter to the police, which has since been done. As the incident is now being investigated by the police, it is not appropriate for us to comment further,” he said.
