Read on as Jinjutha Chavengsub, HR Director, shares how EY Thailand focuses on striking a balance between its vision and what makes it exceptional across all facets of the organisation — 'people, process, and policy'.

Q How would you describe the pillars of your employee experience strategy, and what are the principles you have taken into account to develop this?

At EY Thailand, we perceive employee experience as a journey that covers every stage of an employee's tenure. We are creating an exceptional employee experience with a holistic approach that begins even before their formal engagement starts, through strategic employer branding initiatives. Then, as individuals make the decision to become part of our organisation, they are welcomed with a robust onboarding experience designed to integrate them smoothly into our culture.

Once aboard, we are committed to their wellbeing, ensuring a supportive environment that fosters both personal and professional growth. As they progress, our focus extends to their continuing evolution, offering learning & development opportunities that equip them for success and advancement. We take pride in nurturing this end-to-end experience that supports our employees from the moment of initial contact until the day they are prepared to take their next career leap.

Q In a world propelled by rapid change, what measures do you have in place to maintain a people-centric, human approach to your EX as it evolves?

In navigating the ever-shifting tides of employment landscape, we have established a dynamic feedback loop, a conduit for open communication and constant improvement. Thus, to cope with constant improvement, we have trained our sights on striking a balance between our visions and what makes us exceptional across all facets of our organisation — 'People, Process, and Policy'.

For people, we believe that our greatest asset lies in our workforce agility and resilience. Thus, we actively nurture a culture that champions continuous upskilling and reskilling, enabling our valued employees to adapt, grow, and thrive in the face of new challenges and opportunities.

For process, it’s imperative to streamline our work processes and enhance operational efficiency. We are committed to ensuring our processes are agile enough to effectively optimising performance while staying ahead of the curve. Equally crucial is our adaptable policy framework, accommodating the evolving demands of the industry, clients, and workforce with a greater level of flexibility and foresight.

Q What initiatives do you undertake such that the delivery of employee experience is a collective responsibility of all stakeholders in the organisation?

To promote a best-in-class employee experience, we believe it's a shared responsibility. That’s why we’ve implemented these initiatives to engage all stakeholders across the organisation:

Teamwork and inclusiveness:

  • Our policies, processes, and engagement activities cultivate a deeper sense of community at work through well-designed training programmes, workplace flexibility, wellbeing initiatives, and collaborative activities across all levels. We actively promote an atmosphere where every voice is valued and diverse lifestyles are accommodated.

Learning and development:

  • We are convinced that equipping employees with indispensable knowledge and professional skills fosters meaningful contribution and cooperation across the organisation. Our excellence roadmap helps identify gaps, which are filled through an all-inclusive training curriculum and on-demand e-learning portal, facilitating continuous growth.

These mechanisms underpin our resounding success, ensuring each and everyone plays a part in building not just a better workplace but a better working world.

Q Do you have words of wisdom to share with others in the industry on the best ways to keep your employee experience consistent and beautiful?

At EY Thailand, the principle of “Your Voice Matters” is deeply ingrained in our culture. Our tenacious dedication to actively listening to employees and understanding their ideas, feedback, or concerns forms our ability to grasp the intricacies of diverse circumstances that enables us to curate an incomparable employee experience. This leads to a congenial work environment where trust and respect are nurtured, directly contributing to enhanced business performance.

We strive to create an atmosphere where every voice is not only heard but truly appreciated. Through this ethos of transparent communication, we are better positioned to identify and address issues proactively, harness the full spectrum of employee insights, and tailor our strategies to meet the dynamic needs of our team. 'Your Voice Matters' transcends being a mere slogan; it’s the cornerstone of our strong commitment to delivering a distinguished and fulfilling employee experience.

Q Finally, what is the positive impact of employee experience that you’ve seen on the business as well as the workforce?

A well-executed employee experience yields profound positive impacts on both organisational performance and the workforce morale. On the business front, we witness higher employee engagement, resulting in amplified productivity and stronger retention, which in turn solidifies our financial footing by boosting performance and mitigating costs associated with turnover.

From an employee’s standpoint, the advantages are equally compelling. We notice increased job satisfaction, reinforced commitment, and stronger alignment with our missions and values. This work setting is conducive to greater creativity and collaborative culture where incessant innovation is not merely suggested but anticipated.

In summary, a meticulously crafted EX has a ripple effect throughout the organisation, accelerating favourable business outcomes as well as cultivating a positive work environment where employee well-being and fulfilment are valued. This ensures that our ambitious goals are achieved in harmony with the needs of our most valuable asset: our people.
