Updated operating hours at passport issuing offices & centres in Peninsular Malaysia

These updated hours will take effect from 15 August 2022.

The Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) has announced the updated operating hours for Malaysian International Passports (PMA) issuing offices and Urban Transformation Centres (UTCs) throughout Peninsular Malaysia.

Following the increase in the number of requests for PMA applications after the opening of the country's borders last April 2022, JIM had previously extended the operating hours for all PMA issuing offices and UTC for:

  • WP Putrajaya, WP Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka to 10pm; and
  • Penang, Kedah, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, and Perlis to 6pm.

However, noting the decrease in PMA applications during the night sessions, JIM has updated the new operating hours for PMA issuing offices and UTC as follows:

  • PMA issuing offices in all states and branches will operate from 8.00 am to 7.00 pm on workdays
    • EXCEPT for those in the states of Perlis, Pahang, Terengganu, and Kedah, which will operate from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm;
  • PMA issuing offices in all states and branches will operate from 8.00 am to 12.30 pm on Saturdays
    • EXCEPT for those in the states of Perlis, Pahang, Terengganu and Kedah;
  • UTC offices will operate from 8.00 am to 9.00 pm on workdays
    • EXCEPT for those in the states of Perlis, Pahang, Terengganu, and Kedah which will operate from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm; and
  • All UTC offices including those in Perlis, Pahang, Terengganu, and Kedah operate from 8.00am to 5.00pm on weekends.

These updated working hours will take effect from 15 August 2022.

JIM further reminds the public that those who have applied for PMA, especially online, should collect the PMA as soon as possible to avoid cancellation of the PMA.

Per the statement, there are currently over 9,000 PMAs that have been printed but have not yet been collected by the applicant.
