Effective 15 May 2026, employers will have 14 days to submit online appeals for rejected Employment Pass and Professional Visit Pass applications through the ESD system, replacing the previous six-month timeline.
Malaysia’s Expatriate Services Division (ESD) has revised the appeal submission period for rejected Employment Pass (EP) and Professional Visit Pass (PVP) applications submitted through its online system.
The change, introduced in line with the New Expatriate Employment Policy, will take effect on 15 May 2026. From that date, companies must submit any online appeal within 14 days from the date of rejection at the Expatriate Committee Meeting.
Other important appeal submission guidelines include:
- The appeal facility will only be accessible within this 14-day period.
- Once an appeal is initiated, the application fee is non-refundable.
- Appeals submitted after the 14-day period will not be accepted by the system.
The revised timeline replaces the previous six-month appeal submission period, significantly shortening the time available for employers to respond to rejected applications.
Companies should ensure that all supporting documents and justifications are complete before prior to submission as MYXpats has stated that incomplete or late appeals will not be considered.
