Tenaga Nasional, Cisco ASEAN take action against staff over online remarks

Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has suspended an employee after the staff's Twitter remarks about Malaysia's royal institutions, as reported in Bernama, were made public. This comes after Cisco ASEAN fired an employee on Monday (7 January), for remarks made on Facebook.

Both companies have released the following statements on their social media accounts, stressing that the employees' actions do not reflect their beliefs and principles:

Pekerja yang membuat kenyataan sensitif di akaun media sosialnya telah digantung kerja serta merta sementara siasatan dijalankan. Kenyataan tersebut adalah pendapatnya sendiri & tiada kaitan serta bercanggah dengan prinsip-prinsip TNB. Kami memohon maaf atas perkara yang berlaku.

The employees' remarks were made following the abdication of Sultan Muhammad V announced on 6 January 2019 (Sunday).
