Newly activated K3 Centre in Surabaya to better support workers and companies in East Java, Bali, and West & East Nusa Tenggara

With this Occupational Safety and Health (K3) Centre, workers are expected to obtain better K3 protection, while companies will receive K3 services covering testing and more optimal training.

The Ministry of Manpower Indonesia has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting a safe, healthy, and productive work environment through the activation of the Occupational Safety and Health Centre (K3) Surabaya on 5 January 2025.

Theis move aims to clarify asset management whilst strengthening K3 services for workers and companies across East Java, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

Previously known as the Surabaya Hiperkes and K2 Centre, which was jointly managed by the Ministry of Manpower and the East Java Provincial Manpower and Transmigration Office, the Surabaya K3 Centre has been rearranged to provide clearer management and responsibility of services.

Minister of Manpower Yassierli explained that the activation of the Surabaya K3 Centre is in response to public demand for more organised, clearer, and better accessible K3 services.

"With the management now under the Ministry of Manpower (KEMNAKER), K3 testing services and K3 training are expected to run with more direction," the Minister added.

He emphasised that the activation of the Surabaya K3 Centre goes beyond the administrative aspect, highlighting the government's to strengthen its operational functions through strengthening human resources, budget support, preparation of work programmes, and structuring Organisational Structures and Work Procedures (SOTK).

The Surabaya K3 Centre s expected to directly benefit workers and companies. Workers will receive better K3 protection, while companies can access K3 services, including K3 testing and more optimal K3 training.

"We want the role of the Surabaya K3 Centre to be more strategic to ensure that work norms and K3 norms are really enforced," Minister Yassierli stated.
