ITE and TP-Link partner to prepare students for in-demand ICT roles

The collaboration will bring enterprise networking and surveillance training into the classroom, giving students hands-on experience and industry-recognised skills.

The Institute of Technical Education (ITE) has partnered with TP-Link Corporation (TP-Link) to strengthen practical training and job readiness in networking and surveillance technologies. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed at ITE College East in the presence of Tan Kiat How, Senior Minister of State for Digital Development and Information.

The three-year partnership will see both organisations co-developing curriculum and Continuing Education & Training (CET) courses aligned with industry needs.

Three new CET courses have been introduced:

  • Omada Certified Network Administrator (OCNA) - Wireless network administrator: Equips students to manage cloud-based enterprise networks.
  • Omada Certified Network Administrator (OCNA) - Network administrator, routing & switching: Focuses on routing and switching skills.
  • VIGI Certified Security Administrator (VCSA) – Surveillance system integrator: Covers smart surveillance infrastructure, security operations, and intelligent monitoring.

The initiative is expected to benefit about 600 students each year from Higher Nitec in Electronics Engineering and Higher Nitec in Security System Integration, aiming to provide them with industry-recognised qualifications as well as practical experience with enterprise-grade systems. Beyond classroom learning, TP-Link will provide internships, placements, and structured industry learning journeys, creating potential pathways to permanent employment.

The partnership also includes sponsorship of equipment, staff attachments, joint projects, and student competitions. Students will gain practical experience troubleshooting networks and configuring surveillance systems using TP-Link technologies, giving them a clear understanding of how classroom knowledge translates into real-world solutions.

With Singapore's ICT and security sectors facing a growing demand for skilled professionals, particularly in operational roles that require hands-on expertise, the collaboration aims to bridge workforce gaps and prepares learners for in-demand roles in enterprise networking and CCTV surveillance.

Hugo Cai, Regional Director, TP-Link Corporation said the partnership with ITE addresses the growing demand for professionals who can design, deploy, and manage secure, scalable systems. He added that bringing industry expertise into the classroom not only supports local education but also helps develop Southeast Asia’s digital workforce.

Low Khah Gek, CEO of ITE, added: “By integrating industry-leading expertise and resources into our curriculum, we can better equip our students and CET learners with industry-relevant skills, enable them to acquire industry-recognised certifications, and give them a strong head start to embark on careers in this industry.”
