Employees with children under the age of three will be entitled to three days of dedicated leave.
The Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) has unveiled a new Childcare Leave policy, reinforcing its commitment to fostering a family-friendly and work-life balanced workplace.
Effective 1 September 2025, employees with children under three years old will be eligible for three days of dedicated leave annually, aimed at supporting parents during the critical early years of their children’s development.
HKPC emphasised that the new initiative reflects its belief that people are at the heart of its success, and that supporting families is integral to building a thriving organisation.
“At HKPC, we believe supporting families lays the foundation for enduring success,” said Brian Wong, Chief People and Culture Officer at HKPC, in an exclusive comment to HRO’s Tracy Chan.
“When we empower our people at home, we enable them to achieve excellence at work.”
The new leave policy complements HKPC’s existing suite of family-friendly measures, which include:
- Flexi-time arrangement,
- A private nursing room,
- Family-friendly seminars like ‘Smart Strategies for School Admissions’, and
- Regular staff engagement activities that welcome family participation.
HKPC’s move also aligns with the HKSAR government’s policy address, which advocates for work-life harmony and population sustainability across Hong Kong.
“Through these efforts, HKPC is helping to foster a more compassionate and resilient organisation, where family and career can grow hand-in-hand,” the Council affirmed.
Per the statement, HKPC continues to respond to the evolving needs of its workforce and community, reaffirming its commitment to cultivate a workplace where every employee feels valued – not only for their professional contributions, but also for their unique roles as parents and caregivers.
