Overall, the All-India CPI-IW recorded growth for both February and April, although it dipped in March.
The Labour Bureau, an attached office of India's Ministry of Labour & Employment, has compiled the Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) for the months of February, March, and April 2024.
Based off retail prices collected from 317 markets spread over 88 industrially important centres, the results were as follows:
- The All-India CPI-IW for February stood at 139.2 (growth of 0.3 points).
- The All-India CPI-IW for March stood at 138.9 (decline of 0.3 points).
- The All-India CPI-IW for April stood at 139.4 (growth of 0.5 points).
Looking at year-on-year inflation, the month of February 2024 stood at 4.90% as compared to 6.16% in February 2023.
Experiencing a dip, inflation for the month of March 2024 stood at 4.20% as compared to 5.79% in 2023. Year-on-year inflation for the month of April 2024 stood at 3.87% as compared to 5.09% in April 2023.
