HR practitioner appointments

Sean Nyo joins Tropicana Corporation's HR teamNyo joined Tropicana Corporation in the role of group human resources executive, in October 2016, leaving his previous role as HR executive (recruitment and selection and training development) at Bata (Malaysia). In this new role, Nyo's responsibilities includes the full spectrum of HR with focus on recruitment activities of the group, coordinating recruitment and employee placement to ensure vacant positions are filled timely according to the operational needs, managing candidate database and movement, and undertaking other HR functions and ad-hoc assignments of duties from time to time. He will be based in Malaysia.

On the top priorities for his new role, Sean told Human Resources, "I will be focusing on the full-cycle of recruitment and closing the positions that has been assigned to me as well as providing advice on staff welfare and HR policies."

Calvin Tay joins China Fortune Land Development Tay has moved from being the head of HR, APAC ex China at China Minsheng Bank Corporation, to being the senior director, global head for graduate talent, development and employment branding at China Fortune Land Development. Prior to working in China Minsheng Bank, Tay was with Citibank for nearly 5 years - starting with them as senior business partner to retail banking and wealth management and subsequently to their APAC graduate recruitment lead and head of graduate  recruitment operations.

Akmal Mohd Nasir has been recruited by Cadbury Confectionery In September 2016, Nasir left his previous role as team coach, Tona Lima Production to join the food production company in the role of special project cum HR. A result oriented person who is highly passionate to complete given tasks in a simple yet effective way, some skills Nasir is best known for includes team building, training, business planning, and strategic planning. In his new role, Nasir will remain based in Malaysia.

Pandora Puah leaves Sime Darby to join Merlin Entertainments plcPuah joined the entertainment company in September 2016 , in the role of HR manager - Merlin Magic Making, leaving her previous role as assistant human resources manager at Sime Harby CapitaLand (Melawati Mall). Having been in the HR and recruitment industry for about eight years, Puah has previously worked for companies such as Powertek, GuocoLand, and Genting. In her new role, she will be based in Malaysia.

Han Chiu Chua joins ST LogisticsChua has been appointed by ST Logistics to the role of HR business partner, from his previous role as HR manager at Nuffield Dental Holdings. In his previous role, his duties included the full spectrum of the HR function, providing advice in terms of HR regulations and best practices to the management, as well as recruiting, compensation and benefits, and payroll. He will remain based in Singapore.

Joan Hodgins leaves the APAC region in a Diageo promotionHodgins has been promoted by the world’s leading premium drinks company from her previous role as HR director Australia and NZ where she was based in Sydney, to the role of Europe HR director, effective September 2016. A HR professional and a chartered occupational psychologist with over 20 years commercial experience, she joined Diageo in 2002. She spent four years in the Diageo Ireland business in a range of talent, organisational effectiveness and HR business partner roles before moving to a global role in 2006. Hodgins' specialties includes design and implementation of leading edge leadership performance interventions, HR business partnering - talent, OR and capability strategy, high performance enablement,  and HR strategy development. In her new role, she will be based in Dublin.

Rina Sakuraba joins GE Healthcare JapanEffective October 2016, Sakuraba joined GE Healthcare Japan in the role of APAC HR business partner for life sciences, ultrasound and life care solutions, from her previous role as regional learning and development and talent management Asia business partner Singapore, at Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) Asia Pacific, Singapore. Sakuraba has about 10 years of experience in the HR and training industry and has worked for companies such as GR Capital, Pan Nations Consulting Group and Rosetta Stone Japan. Her new role sees her relocating from Singapore to Japan.

Rupanshi Sohane leaves the HR functionPreviously an HR executive at Appster, Sohane left the company in October 2016 to join msg.ai as an operations manager. Sohane has about five years of HR experience working for various IT firms including Effect Labs, and Frankly.me. A through professional who is good at her work, Sohane is an excellent planner with an eye for details. She will remain based in India for new role.

HR solutions provider appointments

Rachel Lim is now senior search consultant at RGF Executive Search With more than nine years of experience in the recruitment industry, Lim joined RGF as senior search consultant in October 2016 from her previous role in as talent acquisition at another search firm. In RGF, she specialises in mid to senior positions in the sales and marketing and supply chain functions within the industrial sectors. She has assisted in the search and placement of roles such as country managers, sales directors, marketing directors and procurement heads for Fortune 500 companies across South East Asia and India. Lim also has a track record in market mapping projects focused on market intelligence and salary benchmarking.  She received the Top Candidate Management Awards in 2009 and 2010. Lim will be based in Singapore.

Hunter Feng is business development manager at RGPFeng joined RGP as business development manager in October 2016, from his previous role as associate district manager at ADP. Prior to joining ADP, he was with International SOS for four years, with his most recent role being client service executive. Feng is known for his skills including business development, management, marketing communications and account management. He will be based in Beijing, China.

Karan Kumar joins AchieveForum, a TwentyEighty company as client directorKumar was appointed to the role of client director by AchieveForum, a TwentyEighty company in August 2016.  Prior to that, he was with NeuroLeadership Institute in the role of client engagement manager, Asia. Kumar comes with about nine years of sales and consulting experience and has, in the last decade, lived/worked in three countries- India, Australia and Singapore. His new role will see him remaining based in Singapore.

On his priorities in his new role, Kumar told Human Resources: "My number one priority will be to partner with organisations to design and deliver solutions that address current HR and Leadership issues and drive sustained behavior change based on our model of High Performance and Engagement. We follow the five A's model of Achieve, Align, Assess, Advance and Accelerate to achieve this."

Sunil Dutta is practice leader at Lee Capstone Global SearchDutta has been appointed by Lee Capstone Global Search to the role of practice leader. Prior to that, he was the head of APAC human resources practice at Huges-Castell. Dutta comes with about 11 years of HR and consulting experience and has obtained certification of employment intermediaries (CEI) by Singapore's Ministry of Manpower. He will be based in Singapore for his new role.

Take5People welcomes Julia Wong as sales managerTake5People appointed Wong to the role of sales manager in July 2016. Wong moves to Take5People from her previous role as marketing communication manager at Asian Knowledgebase Group. In her new role, she will be responsible for handling direct sales from cold calls to quote, developing the sales pipe, generating new leads, scheduling of business appointments , arranging events, arranging appointments for the CEO, and preparing sales quotations. Her responsibilities will span the Hong Kong and South China regions and she will be based in Hong Kong.

Jimmy Koay is now director at Beyond Education (BeED)BeED recruited Koay in September 2016. Prior to joining BeED as director, Koay was country manager at Christian Dior Couture, for about three years. He comes with 21 years of solid experience in the retail industry - eight in the United States and 13 in Malaysia. Koay is known for his wide cross-functional experience in general management, sales/marketing, procurement, operations and risk management including exposure to Six Sigma process improvements. He will be based in Malaysia.

On his top priorities in the first year of new role, Koay told Human Resources: "For the first year, I will be focusing on recruitment and coaching of the right talent for the organisation, setting up a strong operations structure and controls, formulating impactful marketing strategies, as well as gaining market insights and partnerships for business expansion."

David Hui Joins Heidrick & StrugglesHeidrick & Struggles has announced that David Hui has joined the firm as a partner in the financial services practice based in Hong Kong. Before joining Heidrick & Struggles, Hui was founder and managing director of a boutique search firm where he was responsible for managing large regional accounts and senior-level assignments. He will be based in Hong Kong.
