HR job moves of the week from Supernova, Sanofi, Amcor, and more

HR practitioner appointments

Standard Chartered Bank promotes Bharati BorkarWorking for Standard Chartered Bank for a little under two years as senior talent acquisition, global support functions, Bharati Borkar moves up to global talent research, executive hiring. She holds decades of experience under her belt and is highly endorsed by her colleagues for her skills in the HR function. Based in Singapore, her new role will see her focusing on senior executive level talent on a global scale.

Liana Teo becomes head of HR, Singapore Regional Platform at SanofiHaving joined Sanofi as talent management lead in October 2016, Liana Teo has now taken on the role of head of HR, Singapore Regional Platform at the biopharmaceutical company.  She will be a key member of the the Asia HR leadership team and is responsible for leading the Singapore Regional Platform team of HR business partners. She will also ensure flawless execution of overall Singapore HR operations; HR business partner to global functions Singapore-based leadership executives.

Teo told Human Resources: "My vision for my role as head of HR for the Singapore Regional Platform is to fulfill Sanofi’s ambition of Empowering Life through Empowering Employees, by creating learning and career opportunities that enable our people to thrive. One of my first priorities in this role will be to enable my team of HR business partners with more bandwidth to better engage the business leaders and create a dynamic environment for an engaged and motivated workforce. This will be achieved by centralising routine activities into an operations hub that will create optimal employee experience."

Previously with Paypal for almost six years as learning and organisation development manager for three years and HR business partner for more than two years, Teo has substantial experience in HR.

Zaihasmizah M. appointed as head of HR at The Food PurveyorZaihasmizah carries a total of 11 years’ experience mainly in talent acquisition. Having been the acting head of HR for three months at The Food Purveyor, formally known as, Village Grocer Holdings, she has now taken up the role of head of HR. Based in Malaysia, she is a former engineering student who found passion in the HR field.

She spoke to Human Resources on her priorities in her new role: "My priority this year is more in aligning processes in the company as we recently merged with another supermarket retailer. Besides that, recruitment will also be my focus as we are expanding quite rapidly this year."

She hopes to continue focusing on these aspects in the coming years.

Biswarup Goswami makes a move to PI IndustriesBased in India, Biswarup Goswami has been appointed as senior vice-president HR at agri input company, PI Industries. He has more than 25 years of experience in the HR sector. He previously worked for Laxmi Organic Industries as president of HR and chief transformation officer. His specialities lie in building strategic capabilities and partnering with business as a player and coach, and he has previously tenured with Galaxy Surfactants, AVTEG, Emaar MGF Land, and more.

Supernova welcomes Natalie Wright as global HR directorNatalie Wright has joined social e-commerce retailer, Supernova as global HR director, based in Singapore in June this year. In this role, she will provide HR leadership across all business units and markets, lead talent acquisition and retention and shape the organisational agenda for performance, talent growth and business processes. She will focus on creating and maintaining a high performance culture to take the business through its next phase of growth.

Before this, Wright was group HR manager at Cotton On Group followed by a stint as senior HR business partner at Carousell. Backed by a range of expertise in change management, organisational design, process efficiency and organisational development, Wright has led employee relations and programme management within in-country, regional and global teams.

Stacy Thumboo is managing Performance Labs' talent acquisition, globalPreviously with GP Strategies Corporation for four years, Stacy Thumboo moves to nutrition and wellness firm, Performance Labs as talent acquisition, global.

Based in Singapore, she spoke to Human Resources and said: "I am excited to be in Performance Labs as its an innovative and forward thinking company and the environment is very conducive for creativity." Furthermore, her top priorities are "to build a strong employer brand, expanding the network and in-depth knowledge of the health and wellness industry."

She brings experience from brands such as B2X Solutions, The MRI China Group, Morgan McKinley, and more to her new role.

Kenneth Chong accepts promotion at AmcorHaving been with packing and container specialist, Amcor for over three years, Kenneth Chong has moved up as talent and recruiting manager, Asia Pacific, from his prior role as talent acquisition specialist, Asia Pacific. Based in Singapore, Chong graduated from Singapore Management University with a GPA of 3.99 out of 4, in Master of Human Capital Leadership, Human Resources Management and Services. Expanding on his responsibilities, he told Human Resources three things that his new job scope will expect of him:

  1. Filling regional open roles which are critical to business operations with the best talent swiftly and effectively.
  2. Ensure a robust succession plan and action plan for critical roles in the organisation.
  3. Create and roll out a regional talent engagement strategy.


HR solutions provider appointments

Bertrand Saillet takes up new role at FCM Travel Solutions and FCTG In his new role as the managing director of FCM Travel Solutions and FCTG (Flight Centre Travel Group), Bertrand Saillet will spearhead their overall growth across Asia. In his previous role, he was the general manager for FCM Travel Solutions, overseeing the sales and marketing, account management, technology and operations across Asia. Previously based in Thailand and now in Singapore, he has been instrumental in consolidating the Asia business in the past couple of years.

“I am honoured to be entrusted with the opportunity to manage Asia for FCM and for the group. These are exciting times for the business and I am committed to drive it on this growth trajectory. We will continue to enhance our customer service capabilities and bring technology improvements to meet the growing expectation from our customers in Asia,” said Saillet.

Hays promotes Michael Craven to regional director roleFrom the role of regional technology lead Asia, Michael Craven has moved up the ranks to the role of regional director technology recruitment division and sourcing centre. He continues to be based in Japan, and has been with the recruitment specialist for about five years, having first joined as senior manager information technology recruitment team and IT solutions contracting division.

In his new role, he manages Hays' information technology recruitment division including the enterprise, digital technology, financial technology permanent recruiting practices and the IT solutions contracting division in Japan. His responsibilities also include managing the sourcing centre which is responsible for strategic and tactical candidate sourcing for the agency and Hays Talent Solutions businesses.

Simon Ackland joins Argyll Scott as principal consultantRecruitment firm Argyll Scott has welcomed Simon Ackland to its team in Singapore, in the role of principal consultant. Part of the Hydrogen Group, Argyll Scott is a team of sector and functional specialists operating an 'inch-wide, mile-deep' model across an international network of six offices.

Previously based in the UK, Ackland came to Singapore three years ago to work with Nisus International Search / Westport Partners as executive director / director, executive search consultant. He brings more than ten years of career experience to his new role.
