HR Practitioner Appointments

Howard Rick accepts new role as supervisor pilot recruitmentHaving been part of the HR industry since 2006, Howard Rick has been recruited by full-service carrier, Hong Kong Airlines, to the role of supervisor pilot recruitment. He shared that his topmost concern is to drive pilot recruitment as the company is currently undergoing rapid expansion, in a conversation with Human Resources.

He remains based in Hong Kong. Previously, he has worked with Hudson as Carter Inc's onsite recruitment manager, and with Hillman Ross as senior consultant supply chain.

Dawn Nerine Toh takes up new role at Grab in SingaporeTenured with HR solutions provider Connectus Group since June 2015 as consultant, corporate, Dawn Nerine Toh has taken up a new role as talent acquisition business partner at ride-hailing app Grab. She continues to be based in Singapore as part of the people operations (Pops) team, supporting talent acquisition for functional divisions and managing corporate hiring for various verticals. She also supports the marketing division, as well as takes care of the hiring within Pops, while partnering a team-mate to cover customer experience (customer service) Division.

Tobacco company Philip Morris International elevates Kevin Soosai's roleBased in Kuala Lumpur, Kevin Soosai is now organisational transformation executive at Philip Morris International, up from hi past role as executive - management organisational development. He has been with the company since July 2013, joining the HR talent acquisition team.

Glenn Tay welcomes a new role with Four Leaves in SingaporeEffective June 2017, bakery chain Four Leaves has promoted Glenn Tay from senior executive HR to senior training & development specialist and general affairs. He has been with the company since March 2015, when he joined as executive HR. Prior to that, she held roles at Youbook and Sky Asia Consulting.

Syairah Khairunnisa Zakaria is HR executive at Ahmad Zaki ResourcesBased in Kuala Lumpur, Syairah Khairunnisa Zakaria has been appointed by construction engineering firm, Ahmad Zaki Resources as HR executive, recruitment in July 2017. Prior to that, she was working with Muhibbah Engineering as executive HRRM (HR business partner).

Joan Alicia Koh takes up HR role at NielsenIn a promotion, Joan Alicia Koh has been appointed by research agency Nielsen to the role of talent engagement and development, Asia. Based in Singapore, Koh was previously MD, Singapore and Malaysia at Nielsen since April 2012, prior to which she was with Market Research Society Singapore.


HR Solutions Provider Appointments

Tim Cox joins Pedersen & Partners’ APAC private equity and financial services practicesExecutive search firm Pedersen & Partners has appointed Tim Cox in its its Hong Kong team as a regional client partner covering Asia Pacific. Prior to this, Cox served as director of the APAC financial services practice for another executive search and consultancy firm.

“I look forward to representing the brand in the region and delivering proactive, targeted, and effective search services,” Cox said. Gary Williams, partner and the head of APAC, added: "His 20+ years in high-growth developing and established markets will become a valuable asset for our APAC team, elevating our capabilities to new levels."

Mandi Pannum announces advancement to KPMGRecruiting specialist Mandi Pannum has been appointed by accounting firm KPMG in the role of graduate talent acquisition consultant, based in Sydney. Bringing close to a decade of HR experience to this role, Pannum was previously with Credit Suisse on a contract role for campus recruitment.

GetLinks strengthens team in Hong Kong with Neil TsuiPreviously business development consultant in a contract role with GTIS-Asia, Neil Tsui has been recruited by GetLinks, a tech hiring marketplace for Asia, to the role of country head - Hong Kong. He continues to be based in Hong Kong.

Pullman Kuala Lumpur City Centre appoints Lyndon Discombe as GMLyndon Discombe has been appointed GM of Pullman Kuala Lumpur City Centre Hotel & Residences (Pullman KLCC), previously the GM of the former Prince Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur, which has since rebranded. Discombe has over 30 years experience in hospitality, and was a senior constable of police for the Victoria Police Force for about seven years before a career switch to hospitality.

Linda Robson has taken flight as a Hummingbird After 32 years in the advertising industry as a media professional, 17 years in regional roles based out of Bangkok and Singapore (including 10 years in L&D at GroupM APAC), Sydney-based Linda Robson has founded The Hummingbirds Company with her business partner (and former manager) Maree McDonough. Speaking to Human Resources, she defines Hummingbird as "a learning and development company focused on helping everyone becoming the best version of themselves." It offers services such as training, instructional design, coaching and facilitation, and L&D strategy.

Ruth Anne del Rosario joins GSK via Resource SolutionsEffective June 2017, Makati-based Ruth Anne del Rosario has joined GSK as recruitment lead - Philippines, via Resource Solutions. She was previously account lead at Randstad Sourceright, where she was employed since 2014.

INTI Education Group names Manjulla Sandara as senior manager, group HREffective June 2017, Manjulla Sandara has been appointed senior manager, group HR at INTI Education Group, which offers programmes for working professionals. She continues to be based in Malaysia, and prior to this was manager, HR relationship management at Hong Leong Bank.

Steve Brown ventures into new role with ChapmanCGEffective June 2017, Steve Brown has joined HR-dedicated executive search firm, ChapmanCG as senior director, specialising in senior HR search across Southeast Asia and Greater China. Prior to joining ChapmanCG, he spent 18 years in executive search, with the last 12 years based in Asia Pacific. Currently based in Singapore, he has lived and worked in Australia, China, and the UK.

Sally Kok moves up the ranks at recruitment firm HaysTenured at Hays since June 2014, Sally Kok has moved up to the role of senior consultant, recruiting HR experts for the financial services sector. She has previously worked at EY and AstraZeneca, both of which have also been based in Hong Kong.

Melanie Redulla appointed to new role with energy and engineering recruitment firmMobilisation executive APAC with Spencer-Ogden since October 2016, Melanie Redulla has been promoted to team leader - mobilisation APAC, continuing to be based in Singapore. She was contract manager at SThree prior to joining the current specialist recruiting firm.

Eddie Wong joins RM HR Consulting as consultantHR consulting and advisory firm, RM HR Consulting has announced that Eddie Wong has joined as consultant, based in Hong Kong. Prior to joining this role, Wong was head of HR and administration at Cyberport Hong Kong.

Jia Yong Goh appointed director at EYFor his new role as director, people advisory services, at Ernst & Young Advisory, Jia Yong Goh continues to be based in Singapore. In this role, his immediate priorities are to work with government agencies and local industries to bring to life various aspects of the SkillsFuture Initiative, including the development and implementation of Skills Frameworks for various sectors; and continue to work with companies within Southeast Asia on uplifting their people practices, including talent management, performance management and rewards, as told to Human Resources.

He also continues to be Battalion Commander, 793rd Battalion, Singapore Infantry Regiment in the Singapore Army.

Larissa (Barnett) Spott to establish Space's sales and marketing practice Search and selection firm, Space Executive, has appointed Larissa (Barnett) Spott associate director, with the remit to set up the sales and marketing practice. Her background comes with a core focus across all categories of the consumer goods industry, representing talent such as MDs, GMs, CMOs, and more. She continues to be based in Singapore. She has prior HR experience, having spent the first five years of her career working on the client side in talent acquisition roles with Coca-Cola and DIAGEO across Asia and Europe. She has also worked with Michael Page, as a consultant in the sales and marketing team, as shared in a conversation with Human Resources.

Korn Ferry appoints Yifan Shi to a new role as associateManagement consulting firm Korn Ferry has advanced Yifan Shi from research associate to the role of associate, where she deals with the technology and financial services industries. Based in Beijing, she has been with the firm since November 2015, and prior to that was with Colorado Department of Transporation in the United States.
