foodpanda Malaysia gives back to its rider community for Ramadan 2024

Kicking off the season, the organisation hosted 'buka puasa' (breaking fast) events in six states across Malaysia for delivery partners.

In commemoration of the spirit of Ramadan, foodpanda Malaysia is giving back to its rider community throughout the month. This commitment aims to serve as a symbol of its care and support to its delivery partners.

Kicking off the season, the organisation hosted 'buka puasa' (breaking fast) events in six states across Malaysia for its delivery partners. A total of 17 'buka puasa' gatherings were held across Perak, Penang, Johor, Selangor, as well as Sabah and Sarawak which witnessed their first buka puasa events. A collective total of 950 foodpanda delivery partners broke their fast together.

Of these, one of the buka puasa sessions held in Klang Valley was hosted especially for female delivery partners to honour them for their invaluable contributions, aligning with the spirit of International Women's Day in March. The foodpanda team also distributed 50 exclusive GLOWco hijabs to its female Muslim riders as part of a collaborative effort with the brand during this event.

Director of Operations at foodpanda Malaysia, Shubham Saran
commented: "We were thrilled by the attendance from our delivery partners in all states. It brings me great joy to see smiles on their faces as they break their fast together. Amidst an industry predominantly dominated by males, foodpanda endeavours to celebrate the strength and resilience of our female workforce especially so this month. Our delivery partners truly are the backbone of our business, and it's important to us that they feel appreciated.”

Continuing with the spirit of giving this month, foodpanda will be topping up delivery partners’ tips; for each order that a customer opts in to tip their delivery partners, foodpanda will top this up with an additional RM1. Moving forward, the organisation will also continue to elevate the delivery partners experience with new and improved benefits, bonus quests and more.

“We continuously strive to find ways to elevate how we reward our delivery partners. We are pleased to be able to include our customers with this initiative and strongly encourage our customers to tip when placing an order. We hope that these efforts will help our delivery partners as they too prepare for the festive season with their families. Our goal is to ensure our delivery partners feel cared for and part of the panda family.”
