Faces of HR: LIXIL's Dr. Thabhatr Artsri on the mindset he believes every future-ready leader needs

Equipping leaders with the right mindset will enable them to lead transformation, embrace innovation, and navigate ambiguity with confidence, he affirms.

In a world where roles are evolving faster than job descriptions can keep up, the ability to adapt has become more than a nice-to-have – it’s now a non-negotiable. For Dr. Thabhatr Artsri (Ken), Leader, HR Thailand, Philippines, Indochina, LIXIL APAC at LIXIL, it all starts with mindset. "From my point of view, while driving business growth remains essential, organisations must place greater emphasis on transforming the mindset of their talent," he says.

Ken is a highly accomplished senior HR executive with over 20 years of extensive experience leading HR functions across local and international organisations.

He has played a key role in major strategic initiatives, including the greenfield setup of one of the world’s largest manufacturing facilities.

Ahead of his session at #TransformTalentTH, Mary Ann Bundukin catches up with him for a peek into his leadership journey, three characteristics of a future-ready leader, his thoughts on the urgent shifts organisations need to make to stay competitive today, and more.

Q Thinking back to your first day in HR, what core belief has shaped your leadership journey until today?

Having a clear goal, one in which you can vividly envision your success, and cultivating strong self-discipline are two essential foundations that shape your path and fuel your energy and passion to achieve what you’ve set out to accomplish. These beliefs serve as powerful internal drivers, providing a solid starting point and sustaining your momentum throughout the journey.

With these two pillars in place, even when faced with distractions or obstacles, you are better equipped to rise, recalibrate, and stay focused on reaching the finish line. These core beliefs have been fundamental to my journey in HR, and I believe they are equally valuable and applicable across all professional paths

Q
In your view, what must organisations do differently today to transform their talent into the future-ready leaders their business truly needs?

From my point of view, while driving business growth remains essential, organisations must place greater emphasis on transforming the mindset of their talent. In today’s environment, where uncertainty, rapid technological advancement, and shifts in the market and ways of working are constant, mindset becomes a critical foundation.

Future-ready leaders must be flexible, adaptive, and resilient in the face of change. Equipping them with the right mindset will enable them to lead transformation, embrace innovation, and navigate ambiguity with confidence.

In short, mindset transformation is not just a support to business, it is a strategic necessity for future leadership.

Q
Looking ahead, which emerging trends do you believe will redefine the role of HR in the next few years?

In today’s business landscape, AI has become a fundamental tool across all sectors, and data-driven decision making is now a default and critical driver of business success. At the same time, work processes and people are becoming more seamlessly integrated, which will significantly redefine the role of HR in the coming years.

HR will need to focus on workforce optimisation and agility, ensuring that the organsation has access to multi-skilled talent that can adapt to fast-changing needs. The era of single-skill roles is fading, and it is now essential to develop talent with versatile skill sets to stay competitive and future-ready

Q
As a speaker at #TransformTalentTH, what key message or call-to-action do you hope your session will leave with attendees?

In today’s AI-driven world, success in talent transformation goes beyond adopting technology. It requires a clear purpose, the right mindset, and a deep understanding of future skills. My call-to-action for attendees is: don’t just implement systems, build people who are agile, future-ready, and aligned with your organisation’s vision.
