STR Phase 2 payments to 5.2mn recipients to begin on 10 March 2026

The payout will be disbursed in stages, with rates ranging from RM100 to RM600 depending on recipients' eligibility.

Payments under Malaysia’s Rahmah Cash Contribution (STR) Phase Two will begin in stages from 10 March 2026, reaching an estimated 5.2mn recipients across the country.

The announcement was made by Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister and Finance Minister during the Prime Minister’s Monthly Assembly on Monday (9 March 2026). The second phase of the cash assistance programme is aimed at helping Malaysians manage daily expenses and prepare for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the number of recipients for Phase Two has increased to 5.2mn, an increase from 5mn in the first phase of payments earlier this year.

The government has allocated RM1.3bn for Phase Two, compared to RM1.1bn for Phase One in January. The expanded allocation includes 200,000 newly approved recipients, who will begin receiving their payments starting 30 March 2026.

Overall, the Phase Two disbursement is expected to benefit about 3.8mn households and 1.4mn single senior citizens. Payment amounts will range from RM100 to RM600, depending on the recipient’s eligibility category.

Speaking at the assembly, PM Anwar said the expansion of the programme allows more Malaysians to benefit from government social assistance, particularly as the festive season approaches.

He noted that initiatives such as STR, the Basic Rahmah Contribution (SARA), and SARA for All are part of broader efforts to ensure that national revenue is shared with the public, particularly those who require greater financial support.

For 2026, the total allocation for STR and SARA stands at RM15bn, making it the highest amount ever allocated for the programmes in the Federal Government’s history.

The Ministry also reminded the public to remain cautious of scams and fake links circulating online. Individuals seeking more information are encouraged to refer only to the official STR portal for verified updates and frequently asked questions.
