Believe Music’s Country HR Lead for Indonesia and Malaysia explains why understanding different generations, building accountability, and creating room for growth are vital to a high-performing culture.
With more than 15 years of experience across education, retail, tourism, IT, and music, Dian Wanni (pictured above) has seen firsthand how the needs of employees — and the ways organisations support them — continue to evolve.
Today, as Country HR Lead for Indonesia and Malaysia at Believe Music, she partners with leaders to shape people strategies that support growth, from workforce planning and talent development to employee engagement, workplace culture, and organisational change.
A strong advocate for women’s empowerment, diversity, equity, andinclusion, Dian is especially passionate about helping multigenerational workforces succeed together. She believes organisations can build stronger, more collaborative cultures by understanding the characteristics of their teams, nurturing accountability, and giving people the space to develop their potential.
Ahead of her session at #TransformTalentID, Dian sits down with HRO to discuss the leadership philosophy that guides her work, the surprising parallel between parenting and leading, and why trust is a more powerful driver of growth than micromanagement.

Q Please tell us a fun fact about yourself that people may not know.
Outside of my 15+ years of HR experience, I am a proud mother of two daughters. I am also a social media minimalist who applies the same principle to parenting as I do to leadership: skipping the conventional "good cop, bad cop" dynamic to focus instead on instilling deep-rooted life values that foster long-term accountability and independent thinking.
Q What is the core belief in HR leadership that drives your leadership journey?
I believe that people are an organisation's greatest asset and primary driver of success. When talents are guided by clear leadership direction and objective, provided continuous upskilling to adapt to emerging trends, and granted the right autonomy within a safe, respectful, and fair environment, they truly thrive and spark innovation that directly propels business growth.
Q In fewer than 10 words, what is your #1 motto for leading teams more effectively?
"Lead with trust, empower with autonomy, align with purpose."
Q A quick preview of your session at Transform Talent 2026: what do you hope attendees will take away from your presentation this year?
I am eager to hear and learn from fellow practitioners, as well as exchange thoughts. I hope attendees walk away with practical insights on navigating multi-generational talent.
"By understanding team characteristics and leading through trust rather than micromanagement, organisations can empower individuals to step up and level up their own leadership capabilities."
