140 individuals banned from working in Singapore over SHN, QO and Circuit Breaker breaches

Singapore's Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has revoked the work passes of 140 work pass holders between 1 May and 25 June this year, for breaching their Stay-Home Notices (SHN), Quarantine Orders (QO), and circuit breaker measures.

Out of all 140, 98 had got their work passes revoked after being caught breaching the circuit beaker measures. They were caught eating, drinking, and gathering in groups in public during that period, at places including dormitories, private residential areas, Robertson Quay, and East Coast Park.

This includes six work pass holders who were found guilty of breaching the circuit breaker measures on 25 June, for gathering near Robertson Quay while social gatherings were prohibited. 

The remaining 42 work pass holders had breached either their SHN or QO, after being caught outside their residence while on notice/orders,

These 140 individuals have not only had their work passes revoked, but have also been permanently been banned from working in Singapore.

In light of such events, the MOM reminds all employers and work pass holders:

All employers and work pass holders have a joint responsibility to ensure workers abide by safe distancing measures, and where applicable, requirements such as QO and SHN. As Singapore gradually eases into phase two of reopening, strict compliance is crucial to continue to safeguard the health and safety of individuals and the community at large, the Ministry added.

It also stressed the need for all work pass holders in the country to abide by the law, and that it will continue to take enforcement actions against anyone who does not comply with the requirements. This includes revoking their work passes, and is regardless of their nationality and pass type.
