1.7mn Singaporeans will receive GSTVs and Medisave top-ups from July

A total of 1.7mn eligible Singaporeans can look forward to receiving their 2019 MediSave top-ups and GST Voucher (GSTV) benefits between July and November this year.

This was announced in a press release by the Ministry of Finance (MOF) yesterday (26 June).

These Singaporeans will be notified of their eligibility via text message or letters by 5 July 2019, and can view their their GSTV benefits online at any time by logging in with SingPass.

These are the benefits citizens can look forward to:

GSTV in cash

According to the MOF, in August 2019, about 1.4mn will receive GSTV cash of up to S$300 each, which will be credited directly into their bank accounts. Those who have not already provided their bank account numbers will receive cheques about two weeks later.

MediSave top-ups for Pioneer Generation (PG) and Merdeka Generation (MG) seniors

These benefits will be received based on the recipient's age, i.e.:

  • A PG senior aged 85 as of 2019, living in a HDB flat: S$1,250.
  • An MG senior aged 65 as of 2019: S$450.

GSTV in MediSave and five-year MediSave top-up

In August 2019, about 520,000 Singaporeans aged 65 and above will receive up to S$450 in GSTV – MediSave.

Further, Singaporeans born on or before 31 December 1969 (50 years and above in 2019) and do not receive PG or MG benefits will each receive a MediSave top-up of S$100 annually from 2019 to 2023. This will be credited into their MediSave accounts in August 2019, as part of the five-year MediSave top-up scheme announced in Budget 2019.

The top-up will benefit about 570,000 citizens in 2019.

GSTV cash as Bicentennial payment

As also announced in this year's Budget, the Government will be handing out special Bicentennial payments as an addition to the payment given to the 1.4mn GSTV – cash recipients. It will be paid out from November 2019.
