Tan Kai Hoe, CEO of SPRING Singapore to step down this month

SPRING Singapore has announced its chief executive (CE), Tan Kai Hoe will step down on July 31, July 2015, to take up a role in the private sector.

According to a press release by the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI), deputy chief executive Ted Tan will take over as acting CE effective August 1, 2015, till a successor is appointed.

Ted Tan has been with SPRING Singapore since April 2009 and is currently leading the agency’s industry and enterprise development efforts.

The outgoing CE, Tan Kai Hoe joined SPRING as deputy chief executive in June 2009, and was promoted to his current post in May 2013.

Under his leadership, SPRING has expanded its efforts to develop the SME sector in Singapore, implementing several wide-ranging initiatives like the SME Talent Programme (STP).

He is also credited with strengthening partnerships between large organisations and SMEs under the Partnerships for Capability Transformation programme; and simplying programmes to make it easier for SMEs to apply for productivity and capability upgrading support.

Extending appreciation to Tan Kai Hoe, Chee Hong Tat, Second Permanent Secretary for the MTI, said, "Under Kai Hoe’s leadership, SPRING has sharpened its focus on SME transformation efforts. I thank Kai Hoe for his years of service and wish him all the best in his future endeavours."
