New employment centre to help locals

The National Trades Union Congress’ (NTUC) e2i (Employment and Employability Institute) campus was launched yesterday, and is expected to provide job advice and training to up to 10,000 people monthly.

The institute, which was launched in 2008 and is now located in Jurong East, has been working closely with job seekers, workers, companies and partners, and offers solutions for better employment and employability.

The new $70 million campus, which moved from Redhill, will allow e2i to work with training partners to provide job seekers with more accessibility to blended learning, vocational skills training and experiential learning.

“We want to be a one-stop centre to help both workers and employers address their employment and employability needs,” Gilbert Tan, e2i’s CEO, said.

The new campus will also offer targeted solutions for small and medium enterprises, and job seekers will be able to receive coaching, assessment tests and gain more access to better employment opportunities.

“e2i is committed to make every worker a better worker; every job a better job; and match better workers to better jobs,” Tan said.

Employers will also be able to tap on location-based outreach programmes as well as engagement sessions to increase their companies’ productivity, business capabilities and upskill their workforce.
