Multiple Entry Visa for Malaysia: Eligibility and required documents

Business visitors, for instance, would need to show an invitation letter from a government/private agency/sponsor to invest, or for a business matter.

Malaysia's Immigration Department (Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia, or JIM) has shared a list of categories of individuals who can apply for a Multiple Entry Visa into the country, as well as the documents required for each category's visa application. 

The details are as follows:

Business visitors

This category refers to foreign nationals who wish to enter Malaysia with the purpose of investing or attending to a business matter.

Documents required

  1. Passport photo with white background
  2. Page of the applicant's passport with a validity period of no less than six months from the date of arrival in Malaysia
  3. Travel ticket which has been verified
  4. Proof of payment for accommodation 
  5. Latest bank statements (past three months)
  6. Invitation letter from a government/private agency/sponsor to invest, or for a business matter
  7. Other relevant supporting documents

Medical visitors

This category refers to foreign nationals seeking medical treatment in Malaysia.

Documents required

  1. Passport photo with white background
  2. Page of the applicant's passport with a validity period of no less than six months from the date of arrival in Malaysia
  3. Travel ticket which has been verified
  4. Proof of payment for accommodation
  5. Reference/appointment letter from a registered medical centre
  6. Latest bank statements (past three months)
  7. Other relevant supporting documents

Visitors for the purpose of flying & cruise

This category refers to foreign nationals on a cruise from/to Malaysia boarding a cruise ship via a gazetted entrance.

Documents required

  1. Passport photo with white background
  2. Travel ticket which has been verified
  3. Proof of payment for accommodation 
  4. Latest bank statements (past three months)
  5. Travel information
  6. Page of the applicant's passport with a validity period of no less than six months from the date of arrival in Malaysia
  7. Declaration of the applicant or other relevant supporting documents

Visitors for the purpose of wedding tourism

This category refers to foreign nationals who intend to scout wedding venues or get married in Malaysia.

Documents required

  1. Passport photo with white background
  2. Travel ticket which has been verified
  3. Proof of payment for accommodation 
  4. Latest bank statements (past three months)
  5. Travel information
  6. Page of the applicant's passport with a validity period of no less than six months from the date of arrival in Malaysia
  7. Declaration of the applicant or other relevant supporting documents

According to JIM's website, a Multiple Entry Visa is issued to foreign nationals who require a visa to enter Malaysia mainly for business or government-to-government matters. It is normally valid for a period of three months to twelve months from the date of issue. Citizens of India and China, who wish to enter Malaysia for the purpose of a social visit, are eligible to apply for the Multiple Entry Visa. The validity of the Multiple Entry Visa is one year.

Each entry is for 30 days only and the extension of stay is not allowed.
