Among the other top recommendations of the report are the development of an integrated health workforce database, and improvements to the licensing and registration systems for health professionals.
Malaysia's Ministry of Health (MOH) has submitted a report, titled: "The Future of Health Work force in Malaysia: A strategic Roadmap", with the hopes of referencing it as a guide for the country's health reform.
The report, which was submitted to Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad, Minister of Health at the Ministry of Health Malaysia (IPKKM) Headquarters, Putrajaya on 24 June 2025, will be made as one of the main references by MOH to formulate new policies, in which the Ministry has affirmed that every suggestion given will be researched for implementation in phases to ensure the smoothness of the health service reform process.
Among the top recommendations are:
- Establishment of an independent body to manage the human resources of the country's healthcare sector;
- Development of an integrated health workforce database;
- Improvements of the licensing and registration systems for health professionals, and
- Empowerment of the role of health workers at the community level.
"We recognise the urgent need to modernise the country’s health workforce management strategy. This report provided provides a strong foundation for us to move forward with more progressive and inclusive policies," said the Ministry.

In similar news, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has sealed in the field of health between Malaysia and the Republic of Kyrgyz, opening a new door toward smart partnerships in primary healthcare, infectious disease control, human resource management, health digitisation, and medical and health research that will benefit one another.
"The MADANI Government is committed to continue strengthening international cooperation, particularly in building a more resilient, responsive and inclusive health system," Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad shared.
