McCann WorldGroup nabs WPP's Jean-Michel Wu

McCann Worldgroup has confirmed Jean-Michel Wu as the network's chief talent officer, effective October 20, 2014.

Wu, who was previously with WPP for 10 years, has relocated from his Shanghai base to Singapore.

In his new role, Wu will work closely with the global management team - headed by Joe Kelly in New York and Charles Cadell, president of McCann WorldGroup Asia Pacific - and will be responsible for building the network's extensive talent capabilities.

Wu said his time with WPP has been "an incredible learning journey" and he is eager to start a new path with McCann.

"I now look forward to pursuing a career within McCann Worldgroup where I can be closer operationally while broadening my scope of work, adding valuable impact on the overall business of our clients and network. I’m especially happy to be joining McCann during a period of explosive growth. With their recent wins, McCann has a great future and I’m excited to be part of its continuing success," he said.

Cadell said Wu is "the best there is" at nurturing talent, and his agreement to join McCann is "another boost to the ongoing McCann success story in the region."

Wu was regional talent director at WPP for five years. Prior to joining WPP, he held various senior talent roles within Ogilvy & Mather, a company he joined in 2004.

Taking over Wu's role at WPP is Randy Duax, the new talent director for APAC. Duax will be moving to Singapore from New York, where he is currently WPP’s vice president of executive recruitment.
