#ICYMI: Singapore to raise compensation limits under Work Injury Compensation Act from 1 Nov 2025

With this update, the compensation limit for medical expenses will increase by 17% to S$53,000.

Singapore's Ministry of Manpower (MOM) will be increasing the compensation limits in the Work Injury Compensation Act (WICA) to enhance protection for employees, effective 1 Nov 2025. 

Last reviewed in 2020, this newest update is part of its regular review to keep pace with wage growth and rising healthcare costs. 

With this, the compensation limits for death and permanent incapacity will increase by about 19% to S$269,000 and to S$346,000 respectively. The compensation limit for medical expenses will increase by 17% to S$53,000.

Per MOM's statement, WICA protects all employees when they get work-related injuries or diseases and enables them to make claims in an efficient and low-cost manner, as they do not have to file a civil suit under common law. Compensation limits are capped to protect employers from large payouts.
