HR Practitioner Appointments

Syed Ali Abbas takes up role as group HR director, Global Fashion Group (GFG)GFG is a leading global e-commerce fashion player consisting of Dafiti (South America), Lamoda (Eastern Europe), Namshi (Middle East), The Iconic (Australia and New Zealand) and Zalora (Asia). As the corporate HR leader for the group, he will report to the group CEO.

In this role, he is tasked with delivering HR leadership at the corporate level as well as acting as a strategic advisor to the various group companies. His immediate priority in the role, he told Human Resources, is to help the entire group align around the new GFG vision and then build the organisational capabilities required to execute it.

Abbas most recently led general HR at the Lazada Group for a brief period. Prior to that he was chief HR officer of the Pacnet group, part of the leadership team that led the successful turnaround of the company and subsequent acquisition by Telstra. He has also spent more than a decade with AT&T in multiple roles, including executive director of HR for the Asia Pacific and India regions. He continues to be based in Singapore.

Flex designates R. Chandra RC as HRBP manager Based in Penang, R. Chandra RC has joined electrical solutions firm, Flex as HRBP manager. He is responsible for providing business partnering to business/site management teams on all people issues, as well as owning HR functional responsibility. In this role, he will also look to partner with local management teams, to implement new global practices that help to resolve strategic business issues, promote a performance led organisation, and embed the values.

He spoke to Human Resources: "As the site HRBP manager for two plants, my most important task is to standardise HR practices and synergise the HR team."

Agoda nominates Rubini Sivagnanam as recruiter CEGSivagnanam has been appointed by travel platform Agoda as recruiter CEG based in Kuala Lumpur, from her previous role with MISC as recruitment executive. She has previously worked with Sutherland Global Services, IBM, and Business Media International, in various capacities.

Market research major promotes Marie-Charlotte Nanterme in rewards teamKantar has moved up the ranks Marie-Charlotte Nanterme to senior reward manager in Singapore. Nanterme joined the firm in January 2012 as compensation and benefits manager for Kantar Media, promoted to global mobility manager for APMEA in March 2014, and then to reward manager - Asia in April 2015. Before joining Kantar, she was with Johnson Controls as compensation and benefits analyst.

Gladys Tan moves from Lee Capstone to Constituency Management GroupPreviously a consultant at staffing agency Lee Capstone, Tan is now talent acquisition manager at Constituency Management Group (CMG) in Singapore. CMG is a wholly-owned unit of The Interpublic Group of Companies, and provides services in marketing communications.

Lazada Group names Tim Rath as chief people officerThe online marketplace has named Tim Rath as chief people officer based in Singapore. Rath was most recently the group chief commercial officer since June 2013, prior to which he was CFO for Lazada South East Asia for more than a year. Lazada was founded by Rocket Internet in 2011, and Rath has been the MD and co-founder of Rocket Internet, a position he held from April 2012 to June 2012.

Twitter selects Rachel Earhard as senior L&OD consultant for APACGlobal social media platform Twitter has recruited Rachel Earhard as Asia Pacific senior learning and organisational development consultant, based in Singapore. She has extensive L&D experience, most recently with McCann Worldgroup as learning and development director APAC, and previously with Triumph International as learning and development specialist.

Namrata Kohli appointed regional HR leader at Lloyd's RegisterComing with over 17 years of experience in HR strategy and business partnering, Kohli has been with Lloyd's Register since March 2010, joining as Asia HR business partner LRQA, then moving up to strategic HR business partner LRQA Asia and head of HR for South East Asia, before being recently promoted to HR leader for South Asia, Middle East and Africa. Based in Singapore, her prior experience includes stints with JWT, Bharti Infratel, Bharti Airtel, and Motorola COE.

Pen Apparel brings on board Michelle Yeoh as directorMoving from Kuala Lumpur to Penang, Yeoh has taken up the role of staff human capital management director at the clothing manufacturer. She was previously GM HRBP operations at GCH Retail, where she was responsible for advising business units on HR policies around staffing, compensation, and more.

Rebecca Choo moves from Vedel IT to Mondelēz InternationalHaving been with Vedel IT as recruitment consultant since February 2015, Choo has moved to Mondelēz International as talent acquisition specialist, while staying in Kuala Lumpur. Prior to Vedel IT, she has worked with Elite Professions, Jobstreet SELECT and YTL Hotels.

Ashvine Hari Krishnan joins Philip Morris InternationalThe tobacco firm has chosen Krishnan for the role of senior talent management executive. She relocates to Kuala Lumpur from her previous role at senior HR executive, organisational development at Dutch Lady Milk Industries in Petaling Jaya - where her most recent project was around change management on a global values programme. Her prior experience includes tenures at NorthgateArinso Employer Services, HSBC Private Bank, and Serantau Asia Pacific. She spoke candidly with Human Resources: "I am very passionate about culture, engagement and values."

Zann Teh takes up HR role at United Technologies South Asia PacificPreviously the regional HR manager at Carrier Transicold in Singapore, Teh is now senior manager HR at United Technologies South Asia Pacific. She has previously worked with Singapore Telecommunications and Philips Electronics, both in the capacity of HR manager.

Dun & Bradstreet Hong Kong singles out Ronald Tsui for HRIS roleBased in Hong Kong, Tsui has moved from PizzaExpress Hong Kong where he was HRIS specialist, to the market research and information services company as HRIS implementation specialist. His past experience includes stints at Global Payments, FWD Insurance, and Hong Kong CSL, among others.

Samantha Buttle opts for head of HR role at Hogan LovellsButtle has been appointed by the global legal practice firm as head of HR for Asia Pacific Middle East, giving her responsibility for leadership of the HR team across 12 locations. Based in Hong Kong, she is also tasked with the provision of strategic and operational HR services to the firm. She is part of the global people leadership team contributing to Hogan Lovells' overall people agenda. She was previously with KPMG China as associate director, part of the people and change advisory business.

Food and beverages company appoints Yustianto Yus as country HR directorGrupo AJE, maker of brands such as Big Cola, Volt, and Sporade, has appointed Yustianto Yus as country HR director in Jakarta. He reports to president director of AJE Indonesia, and is responsible for overall HR operations of AJE Group in Indonesia with 1200 employees, three manufacturing sites, six distribution centres, and commercial division. He was previously working with The Kraft Heinz Company as head of HR - Indonesia since July 2015.

Rohan Narula supports Novartis' C&B team in IndiaAfter short stints with Tata Power Delhi Distribution and Monnet Ispat and Energy, Rohan Narula has joined global pharma company, Novartis Healthcare in Telangana as associate - compensation and benefits. He is a post graduate of Delhi School of Economics.

Publicis moves to hire Amy You for talent acquisitionHaving been in the HR industry since July 2006, You is now talent acquisition manager for China at the advertising agency, based in Shanghai. Prior to this, she was talent acquisition manager at Serviceplan China, and she has also worked with TBWA in the same capacity.

HR Solutions Provider Appointments

Appointments at CXAGrace Fong has joined CXA as director of special projects. CXA is Asia’s first private workplace exchange that transforms a firm’s current healthcare spend into a benefits and wellness programme. She joins CXA to build out a new distribution channel where insurers and banks white label the platform.

Based in Singapore, Fong has vast experience in the field, with previously roles such as Singapore practice leader of health and group benefits at Towers Watson, leading business bevelopment for Mercer health and benefits, and regional manager at ACE Insurance.

Additionally in Singapore, Steve McArthur has been appointed as CXA's regional head of client management, joining from Mercer where he was head of client management while also leading Hong Kong’s health and benefits call center and operations. He has also previously been Microsoft’s global service delivery manager. Further, he was an owner and head of client relations at Empower, which spun out of Prudential. 

ADP promotes Allen Guo to sales directorAllen Guo joined ADP in April 2012 as district manager, and has since taken up the roles of global sales manager in July 2013, associate sales director in July 2015, and has just been promoted to sales director. He continues to be based in Shanghai for this role, where he is tasked with leading a team of sales associates focusing on greater China to expand ADP territory. Not only is he looking to approach MNCs, SMEs, WFOEs in consulting-selling way with HR BPO solution; but he is also focusing on hiring and coaching new salespeople with technical know-how and solution selling skills.

Frazer Jones strengthens in-house HR teamMichelle Jackson, previously with ALS International as head of HR practice in Hong Kong, has been hired by Frazer Jones (which is part of The SR Group) as head of North Asia, HR recruitment. Speaking to Human Resources, she explained her main focus will be to continue to grow Hong Kong and China markets and to build out into other markets in North Asia over time. "I will be working closely with Sean Tong in Singapore to align business strategy for my region," she added.

Jimmy Shao commences work with Experis as managing partnerJoining the professional resourcing and project-based workforce solutions firm, part of ManpowerGroup, Shao is based in Hong Kong as managing partner. He brings with him years of industry experience, including a previous stint with Experis as head of Experis Executive, and has most recently worked with HNA Group (International) as head of talent development division.

Kendrew Yu gets new assignment with The Hong Kong Polytechnic UniversityYu has been appointed associate director for alumni affairs and development at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, which provides consultancy, training, and research to businesses, in addition to graduate and post graduate courses. He continues to be based in Hong Kong, where he was previously VP of marketing for Asia at GSMA, and director of APAC marketing at Dow Jones prior to that.

Josh Goh pursues additional responsibility with ManpowerGroupIn addition to the role of marketing director at ManpowerGroup, Goh has taken up the role of marketing director for Marks Sattin (Singapore), a specialist financial recruitment agency part of Experis. He has a cumulative of more than two years' experience with ManpowerGroup, overseeing the marketing and corporate communication function. Based in Singapore, he has previously been marketing director at APBA and assistant head of programme and partnership development TAFEP.

Cornerstone OnDemand boosts growth for Amanda EichAmanda Eich, who has been with Cornerstone OnDemand since May 2010 joining as enterprise account manager, has just moved up the ranks to director of alliance and channels, Asia Pacific and Japan, among the various promotions she has earned at the firm. In this Hong Kong based role, she develops and implements the go-to-market partner strategy with resellers, strategic partners, service partners, and referral partners. Her specialties include cloud computing, SaaS, emerging markets, international business development, strategy, leadership, start-ups, social-selling, and, customer success.

Charlotte van der Vorm is associate director at Nakama GlobalA member of the global recruitment business since April 2013, van der Vorm has moved up from her role as team lead - digital and creative services, to associate director. She now supports the managing director of Nakama Singapore and heads up a team for digital and creative services. Before relocating to Singapore with Nakama, she was executive consultant at Periscope based in London.

PwC rehires Lynn Chang after her stint with CIMBPreviously working with PwC Malaysia in employer branding and employee communications from March 2011 to February 2014, Chang has joined PwC Singapore in a similar role. In the interim, she worked on a similar portfolio with CIMB, while based in Kuala Lumpur.

Red The Consultancy picks Sree Gaithri Pominathan for new projectRecruitment and consulting manager Pominathan has been with Red The Consultancy, a boutique recruitment agency, since November 2015. She is now a recruitment partner of Wilhelmsen Group, on behalf of Red The Consultancy in Singapore. She is handling all recruitment for the Singapore Ships Services (WSS) entity of the Wilhelmsen Group, as well as project management, strategy and operations while tracking, measuring and reporting on recruitment performance against set metrics.

She spoke to Human Resources to explain the Internal Recruitment Partnership (IRP) model within Red The Consultancy. "The project with WSS Singapore started in June 2016 on a trial basis to enable WSS’ HR to focus on strategic HR work while recruitment is outsourced to Red. Immediate focus here is to fill open positions while reducing the time lines that vacancies are open and ensuring suitable candidates are being short listed so that hiring managers are spending more time on meeting business objectives rather than the recruitment process itself!"

She mentioned Red the Consultancy is currently in the midst of discussions with two other clients on similar projects. These are typically companies that want to focus on strategic HR and leave day-to-day recruitment operations to a strategic partner who can help them set up or improve key recruitment processes and policies. She added: "Every client has a different challenge and need and we are in the midst of some really interesting conversations with business leaders and HR on how we can offer a service as a partner engaged with our clients rather than just another agency sending CVs through!"

Knolskape hand picks David Too to lead strategic accounts in APACDavid Too has joined Knolskape, one of the top 20 gamification learning companies in the world, as director of strategic accounts in Asia Pacific. The move is part of the company's regional expansion where it has been hiring senior HR professionals into the team. Too brings with him nearly 30 years of corporate HR and business experience, and he is based in Singapore.

Tony Luk engaged by Adecco Group at a senior role for luxury and retail sectorProgressing from the role of consultant - luxury and retail, Luk is now senior consultant - luxury and retail at the provider of HR solutions, based in Hong Kong. He has completed a Bachelor's degree in accounting from The University of Hull.

Mabel Lim commences new role with Sodexo MalaysiaMoving on from Auric Chun Yip where she has HR manager, Mabel Lim has joined Sodexo Malaysia in Selangor as a country HR Manager, effective 1 August 2016. She had been the Auric Group (Malaysia) since 2011. In 2015, she led her team to win three coveted HR Excellence Awards (HR Professional of the year, Young Talent of the year, Diversity and Inclusion).
