HR Practitioner Appointments

British American Tobacco designates Sharose Lee as HR process integration manager Having joined British American Tobacco (BAT) in December 2015, Lee has been promoted from HR service centre manager to HR process integration manager, while based in Kuala Lumpur. Her past experience includes the role of group HR manager for Singapore and Malaysia at Dry Cut Group, and senior HR administrator of global HR at World Health Organization.

In her new role, Lee's priority is payroll integration between BAT's three entities - global service desk (IT), finance shared services, and regional product centre. She is tasked with integrating all HR processes (talent operations, recruitment, tier 1 service, employee admin and master data, rewards and payroll) and creating one process flow.

She told Human Resources: "I am also managing the alignment of all HR related policies between BAT's three entities as well as the cycle plan for all major HR activities and events. We are anticipating the go-live of our new HR shared services on August 8 2016. I am very excited to venture into my new role."

Unilever nominates Sharina Ng as HR business partner With her specialty in HR, Ng has been appointed by the FMCG major as HR business partner, relocating from her previous role in Selangor with Campbell Soup Company to Kuala Lumpur. She has previously worked within the sector with employers such as Philip Morris International, Kraft Foods, and Johnson & Johnson.

Automotive major appoints Andrew Sleave to its HR team in Singapore Daimler South East Asia has appointed Andrew Sleave to its HR team, relocating him from his past role as HR advisor and business partner at Outcomes First Group in Havant and London, to Singapore. He has previously taken up roles such as HR manager at OneCom and HR executive at Premier Telecom, both in Whiteley.

Jeffrey Chng relocates from China to Kuala Lumpur with Standard Chartered Bank Previously the head of learning and development for the bank at Tianjin, Chng is now head of learning academy, global shared services centre, Malaysia. He is now responsible for end-to-end execution of the learning agenda for technical, professional development and leadership initiatives for 5,000 employees in the organisation. He leads a team of learning partners, programme managers and facilitators.

Amazon names Ali Imran Syed as HR leader The online marketplace has named Ali Imran Syed HR leader based in Hyderabad, who was previously the global learning and organisation development manager for Avery Dennison based in Bengaluru. He now leads a team of HRBPs to support business unit management to deliver results through HR solutions. This includes increasing workforce capability, providing change leadership, talent management and succession planning, and more.

Jason Lai takes up assignment as part of China Overseas Property Services' HR team The real estate developer based in Hong Kong has strengthened its HR team with the appointment of Jason Lai as assistant HR manager effective July 2016. He was previously senior HR officer at The V Group also based in Hong Kong, and has worked with A-1 Bakery Co. as well as Midland Realty.

Neuberger Berman selects Nancy Garland as head of human capital management Employee-owned investment management firm, Neuberger Berman, has recruited Garland (nee Bailey) as Asia Pacific head of human capital management, based in Hong Kong. She moves over from Macquarie Group, where she joined in Syndey, and then moved to Hong Kong as associate director and HRBP for Asia corporate operations.

Winnie Lee appointed client success manager in-charge of training at Optii Solutions Lee has been appointed to a training, client engagement and operation specialist role at the housekeeping software solutions provider, based in Hong Kong. Her role is focused on providing professional guidance, coaching and training on the best use of the software, including the key principles of labour management, quality metrics, and overall performance. She is also tasked with maintaining close relationships with clients, she told Human Resources.

She moves from Net-a-Porter, where she worked since 2013, first as distribution centre manager - outbound, then as a trainer.

Dorsett Hospitality International brings up Jimmy Lee's responsibilities Based in Kuala Lumpur, Lee has taken up the role of assistant manager at the a subsidiary of Far East Consortium International. He joined the firm in July 2015 as executive - HR and administration. He has previously worked as HR officer (pre-opening team) at Silka Cheras Kuala Lumpur.

Winston Tan moves from Negeri Sembilan to Melaka for Mahkota Medical Centre Having been with Nilai Medical Centre (NMC) since 2014, Winston Tan has moved to Mahkota Medical Centre, a multidisciplinary tertiary care hospital, as talent acquisition and development manager. Prior to NMC, he has worked with Perfect Food Manufacturing, Everly Resort Hotel Malacca, and more.

Suhaily Samsudin promoted by engineering consultancy Beca Samsudin has progressed at the New Zealand-based firm, joining as people and culture business partner in January 2014, to taking on the role of people and culture business manager effective July 2016, while based in Singapore. His prior experience includes McDermott Asia Pacific and WorleyParsons.

Mohana Latha Karapiah takes up HR role at OCS Group UK Karapiah, previously learning and development executive at Damansara-based SGS, is now senior recruitment and T&D executive at facilities service provider OCS Group UK, located in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. Her responsibilities include training planning and execution, working with recruitment agencies, leadership programmes for managers, and cold calling for the right candidates.

Mercure Manila Ortigas Fe Divina Tampinco to talent and culture role Based in Pasig, Ortigas has moved from Universal Robina Corporation where she was associate HR, to the hotel as coordinator, talent and culture. Her past experience includes stints in hospitality, as officer HR at The Ascott, and assistant HR at JAMMAS.

Kerry Group Joshua Thio to senior recruitment role With his speciality in talent acquisition, Thio has been promoted by the food technology company to commercial and graduate recruitment manager for APAC, up from commercial, R&D and graduate recruiter APAC, while based in Singapore. He has previously worked with Thermo Fisher Scientific as lead - talent acquisition and operations for JAPAC, and with Hays as consultant.

Leading pharma company appoints Sherry Zhu as HR director GSK has appointed Sherry Zhu as Greater China HR director for consumer healthcare business, based in Shanghai. She was previously working with Commonwealth Bank since February 2011, where she held senior HR roles across Sydney and Shanghai. She has also worked with Maersk Group across China.

Serene Tan heads up HR for ASM in Malaysia After more than four years with DHL Supply Chain as general manager of HR, Tan has joined the assembly and packaging equipment supplier HR director, based in Kuala Lumpur. Her prior experience includes a stint at Otis Elevator Company as HR manager.

UTS Marketing moves to hire Rinie Ibrahim as senior recruiter Having been in the recruitment line since July 2006, Ibrahim is now senior recruiter at the outbound call centre servicing primarily the financial industry, based in Kuala Lumpur. Prior to this, she was leading her own catering and restaurant service, as well as freelance recruiting for Taylor's University, Perodua Manufacturing, Honda Malaysia, and more.

Caroline Tay appointed APAC talent acquisition lead for PayPal Senior recruiter at PayPal since August 2014, Tay has been appointed APAC talent acquisition lead, responsible for hiring quality candidates across three sites - Malaysia, Shanghai, and Chennai. Based in Selangor, her speciality is in middle and high level recruiting in FMCG, life sciences, pharmaceutical, media and advertising, manufacturing, insurance, banking and IT verticals.

Lazada Group brings on board Yeoh Chai Ling for recruitment team Based in Malaysia, Yeoh has taken up the role of senior recruitment associate at the online shopping destination. She moves from PentagonPlus, where she was principal consultant. She has also previously worked as senior research associate at Bó Lè Associates, and test consultant at NorthgateArinso.

Eaton, Hong Kong selects Stephanie Wan as assistant HR manager Wan has moved to Eaton, Hong Kong, a member of Langham Hospitality Group based in Hong Kong, from her previous role as senior officer of learning and development at Hang Lung Properties. She has past experience with The Excelsior Hotel HK, Hopewell Holdings, Pizza Hut Hong Kong, and more.

Schroder Investment Management strengthens HR pipeline Doris Wong, previously HR manager for Asia Pacific at SWIFT, has been scouted by Schroder Investment Management (Hong Kong), based in Hong Kong. Her major responsibility is to act as the HR business partner for HK office to advise and support on full spectrum of HR activities including performance management, talent management, staff development, compensation and benefits and staffing. She also supports the China offices on all HR aspects and leads ad hoc HR projects.

HR Solutions Provider Appointments

Appointments at Frazer Jones Sean Tong, previously associate director and head of Michael Page's HR and technology practice, is now head of HR recruitment consultancy Frazer Jones, Asia. He divides his time between Singapore and Hong Kong offices overseeing Frazer Jones’ regional business strategy across South East Asia, Greater China and Japan, where he is actively executing HR searches for clients from global MNCs to owner managed companies. At Michael Page, he is credited with making it to the â€˜Platinum Club’ in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

Additionally, Frazer Jones, South East Asia has recruited Sheldon Toh as senior consultant, based in Singapore. He is a hire from Michael Page, where he was a consultant. His prior experience also includes stints at Citibank and SAP Asia, both in Singapore.

PwC Malaysia strengthens technology team with in-house hire Nas Fatehah, previously technology consultant at PwC Malaysia since February 2015 based in Kuala Lumpur, has been promoted to senior executive IT infrastructure - global technology (GTS). Her core competencies lie in project management, IT service management, among others, and she has previously worked with BT Global Services as network consultant, and HP as network engineer.

Joan Peilin Tan commences work with Fyte as deputy MD for South East Asia Joining the mid-senior recruitment firm, Tan is based in Singapore, heading up this division of Morgan Philips Group, where she is heading mid to senior level recruitment across various functions including finance and accounting, sales and marketing, HR and general management. She brings with her years of recruitment experience and has worked with companies like Talent2 and Kelly Services before joining Fyte.

Chee Leong Lee moves up the ranks at Ascender HCM Lee has been appointed regional sales director at the HCM outsourcing specialist, progressing from his previous role of Asia Pacific business development manager for HR and payroll since he joined in October 2014. He continues to be based in Singapore. Previously, he was working with Boardroom as group sales manager.

Ragland Thomas G pursues career in organisational development (OD) Thomas is now CEO and principal consultant for Institute for Growth and Organizational Dynamics (IGOD), the Asia Pacific partner for the US-based Institute of Organization Development. He also becomes vice president for global organisation development and strategy for this Institute of Organization Development, which offers OD certification programmes eligible for 24 HRCI credits.

Speaking to Human Resources, he said his focus now is on offering online and classroom based OD programmes and OD consulting across Asia Pacific. Prior to this, he was heading HR for Shell business operations in Chennai, and he comes with more than 21 years of experience in the field.

Change management specialist co-founds new Malaysian startup Mui Han Koh, principal consultant at ChangeDynamics Consulting, a professional services firm for organisational transformation, has invested his effort in a new Malaysian startup called DraVA, an app aimed to reduce accidents and deaths on the road. ChangeDynamics is based in Kuala Lumpur, while DraVA is at Cyberjya.

Suvro Raychaudhuri is group HR head of Parkway Pantai in India Suvro Raychaudhuri, previously at United Breweries, has assumed charge as group HR head of India division of Parkway Pantai. This is a newly created position by Parkway Pantai, owned by Malaysia’s IHH Healthcare. He is based in Hyderabad, and has previously worked with Wipro Technologies in various capacities including HR manager - talent engagement and development for over eight years.

In conversation with Human Resources, Raychaudhuri candidly shares: "Like all other moves in life, this one is also about learning something new and contributing with the past. Keeps the natural order of existence and life for a learner intact.

Simon Antrobus relocates AMEA region role with CSC Previously the country head and director of technical recruitment at Kelly Services, Antrobus is managing an AMEA-wide portfolio as recruitment operations manager, via Allegis Global Solutions, at IT consulting firm CSC, effective May 2016. He was previously based in Kuala Lumpur.

Morgan McKinley names Shweta Ohri as consultant, up from associate consultant Formerly an associate consultant at the specialist recruitment firm based in Singapore, Ohri is now consultant, and as a recruitment Specialist within the IT&T industry, she is focusing on pre-sales and architecture (enterprise, solution, technical) roles. Her past experience includes stints at Morpho (Safran) as senior quality analyst, and Accenture as software engineer senior analyst.

Appointments at Pure Search in Asia Global governance recruitment firm Pure Search has hired Michelle Koh and Jonathan Whitaker to lead commerce and industry practices in Singapore and Hong Kong respectively. Hong Kong MD of Pure Search, Liam Richardson, commented: "Michelle has almost a decade of experience, as well as a track record of building and managing outstanding recruitment teams. Together with Jonathan, who has considerable experience recruiting in Asia, I am confident that the two will take our market leading commerce and industry practice to new heights."

Whitaker is an expert finance and accounting recruiter, whilst Koh specialises in legal and compliance hires. In managing the practice, they will cover tax, legal, compliance, risk, HR and finance.

Mary Jane Olores engaged by Teledirect Telecommerce on Google account Moving over from IBM Malaysia where Olores tenured for more than a year as talent search partner for Asia Pacific, she is now assistant manager - recruitment (Google account) with Teledirect Telecommerce, based in Kuala Lumpur. She has also previously worked with Stone Apple and Viventis Search Asia.

Iris Wong commences new role with Chandler Macleod Group Having joined the recruitment services and workforce management firm in September 2015 as consultant HR, Wong is now senior consultant HR based in Hong Kong. She has experience with recruitment firms such as Adecco Hong Kong and HRnet One.

Venkata Subramanian joins a dairy products manufacturer in OD role The managing director of SGSA India, a professional training and coaching firm, for mroe than eight year, Subramanian has also joined a dairy products manufacturer as executive director, where his primary responsibility is in organisational development - sales, administration and HR.
