FedEx Singapore celebrates 30 years with awards for employees

FedEx Singapore recently celebrated 30 years of operations in the country, with a family day for employees, and a recognition ceremony honouring its longest-serving employees.

Having set up operations in the region in 1984, FedEx established Singapore as the South Pacific regional headquarters in 1992.

FedEx Express' regional vice president of South Pacific, Kevin O'Hearn, said on the occasion, "This being Singapore’s Jubilee year, we are particularly privileged to reach such an auspicious milestone for our business in the country.

"Singapore plays an important role in our Asia-Pacific strategy and FedEx long-term focus on the country has been critical to the growth of our regional business."

Khoo Seng Thiam, FedEx Express Singapore's managing director credited the company's success locally to the "dedication and commitment" of their team members, many of whom have been on board since the early days.

He added, "We offer them our heartfelt thanks for their continued loyalty and service."

In view of this, thirty of the longest serving FedEx Singapore employees were honoured at a special ceremony (pictured).

Eric Pun, manager, operations, who has spent 32 years with the company, shared, "FedEx is a great company to work for; if not, I wouldn’t have stayed for 32 years. They take care of people, and I’m very happy that I’ve built my career here."

Added Sathar Moulabaksh, manager, operations, who has been with FedEx and Tiger International for 35 years, "“It has been challenging but enjoyable. My time here has been anything but boring as I’ve been exposed to many different aspects of the job."

In a previous interview with Human Resources, Khoo Seng Thiam talked about the company's People Service Profit (PSP) philosophy.

"We have an open-door policy. Anybody can knock on anyone’s door up the line, all the way to presidents and even the CEO of the organisation," he had explained.

"Our fair treatment policy is a channel for employees to be assured of a fair hearing in case of grievances. We take it very seriously to ensure no one has been discriminated against or treated unfairly."
