The new one-stop centre, opened by DPM Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi on 1 September, aims to simplify Employment Pass applications and support Malaysia’s economic growth.
The Malaysia Expatriate Talent Service Centre (MYXpats Centre) was officially opened by YAB Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs on 1 September. The opening was represented by YB Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohammed, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs I, along with YB Senator Dato’ Sri Abdul Wahid Omar, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department also in attendance.
Located in Surian Tower, Petaling Jaya, the MYXpats Centre is a one-stop facility that processes and issues all Employment Pass (EP) applications, as well as other EP-related passes, for expatriates working in Malaysia.
The centre is the result of a partnership between the Immigration Department of Malaysia and Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp), overseen by the Ministry of Home Affairs. It was established under the leadership of Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as part of efforts to speed up EP application processing.
Speaking at the launch, Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the centre demonstrates the government’s efforts to enhance expatriate immigration services and make it easier for investors to do business in Malaysia. He added that it also reflects the government’s commitment to digital delivery of key public services under the Government Transformation Programme.
He further shared that Malaysia’s economic growth is generating numerous job opportunities that require highly specialised skills, particularly in high-impact, high-value sectors. "Complementing the local workforce with the specialised skills of expatriate talent will enable Malaysia to move to the next level of economic development."
"MYXpats Centre has been set up to meet the needs of expatriate talent and employers in Malaysia. Its integrated, streamlined data platform will ensure a fast, efficient and accurate application process for employers," he added.
Dato’ Mustafa Ibrahim, Director-General of the Immigration Department of Malaysia said the opening of MYXpats Centre introduces a new level of enhanced immigration services. He added that through oversight of the secure, government-run system, applications would be processed efficiently, building on the planned enhancements initiated by the launch of the ESD in June last year by the Prime Minister.
The centre will process and issue a range of expatriate passes, including EP, Dependant Pass, Social Visit Pass (Long Term), and Visit Pass (Temporary Employment). MYXpats Centre has also recently implemented the Electronic Referral Visa (eVDR), allowing companies to download and print visa approval letters, eliminating the need to collect them physically from the Immigration Department.
Employers must first register their companies with the ESD, which evaluates them for compliance, risks, and hiring needs. Once approved, they are eligible to use MYXpats Centre to submit expatriate employment applications.
