About 50 AI roles to be created as Kyndryl opens AI innovation lab in Singapore

The roles that will be employed include data scientists, data engineers, and AI developers, with the aim to accelerate AI adoption and support growth agendas across Southeast Asia.

Kyndryl, an IT infrastructure services provider, has announced the launch of its ASEAN AI Innovation Lab in Singapore, looking to employ about 50 local AI specialists, including data scientists, data engineers, and AI developers. The lab aims to support organisations in Southeast Asia looking to scale their use of AI. Beyond tech development, the lab will serve as a collaborative space to explore responsible AI through practical use cases and live demonstrations.

The company also announced that it will be collaborating with fellow tech organisations such as Google Cloud and Digital Industry Singapore (DSIG) to help Singapore-based companies accelerate AI transformation.

Andrew Lim, Managing Director, ASEAN and Korea, Kyndryl, shared: "By partnering with Digital Industry Singapore (DISG), Google Cloud, and other ecosystem players, we aim to scale trustworthy and high-impact AI solutions that enable businesses to move faster and smarter with responsible AI principles at the core."

The lab will also support AI adoption by working with DISG, local universities, and research institutions to promote the use of cloud-native architectures and scalable infrastructure. With a focus on talent development and real-world applications, the initiative aims to help organisations build a more resilient and future-ready workforce. It will also provide guidance on responsible AI practices, addressing key issues such as data privacy, governance, and energy efficiency in an increasingly regulated and sustainability-conscious landscape.

Philbert Gomez, Senior Vice President and Head and Executive Director, Digital Industry Singapore, commented: "Kyndryl’s ASEAN AI Innovation Lab contributes to Singapore’s ambition to be a hub for AI innovation. We are keen for companies to develop their innovation mandates in Singapore and tap into our ecosystem to grow their businesses."

"By bringing together industry, academia and government, this Lab will serve as a catalyst for innovation, workforce skilling and the development of scalable AI infrastructure in Singapore and the broader ASEAN region.”
