Yubico and TBWA\Singapore open regional hubs in Singapore

Yubico and TBWA\Singapore open regional hubs in Singapore

  • Yubico's Singapore office will invest in local cybersecurity talent, partner with schools, universities, and community groups to strengthen digital security capabilities.
  • TBWA\Singapore's Innovation Lab will focus on rapid prototyping and technology experimentation to explore brand experiences and solve business challenges.
  • Both new hubs will see significant investments in talent development, with programmes aiming build local cybersecurity expertise and equip professionals with hybrid skills.

Yubico, a provider of security key solutions, has set up its third global headquarters in Singapore, on top of its existing bases in Stockholm and Santa Clara, USA.

The Singapore office will house supply chain, operations, sales and administrative functions supporting Asia Pacific markets, as well as invest in the development of local cybersecurity talent.

The company said the expansion will see Yubico working closely with organisations across government, financial services, technology, telecommunications, manufacturing and other critical infrastructure sectors to strengthen cybersecurity resilience in the region through hardware-backed authentication solutions, including YubiKeys and YubiKey as a service.

Heading the Singapore office will be Alvin Toh, Director and Vice President of supply chain operations in Asia Pacific. Toh has been with Yubico for over 12 years and continues to oversee regional supply chain operations while expanding customer and partner engagement in APAC.

Other initiatives that Yubico has been investing in are as follows:

  • Youth-led cybersecurity initiatives, such as hack clubs.
  • Expanding partnerships with local schools, universities, and community programmes to help equip students with the tools to stay security-aware and even develop talent.

Commenting on the launch of the headquarters, Jerrod Chong, Acting Chief Executive Officer, Yubico said: "As the digital economy grows, there’s a decisive shift across Asia Pacific, where organisations are moving beyond legacy multi-factor authentication to meet rigorous new national regulations for identity protection.

Soo Haw Yun, Vice President, Global Enterprises, Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), also shared that the expansion aligns with Singapore’s role as a base for companies building advanced technology capabilities.

"With rising AI adoption and strong growth potential in the region's digital economy, Yubico's expansion is timely."

In similar updates, creative agency TBWA\Singapore has launched the network’s first APAC Innovation Centre of Excellence, focusing on AI-led brand innovation.

The centre is said to integrate AI across insight development, ideation, experience design and production, with the aim of shortening development cycles and enabling faster testing before scaling campaigns across markets.

Beyond AI, it will explore robotics, intelligent systems, and virtual and augmented reality to create immersive brand and service experiences across sectors such as education, training and social impact.

Supported by the EDB, the Innovation Lab will develop, test, and refine ideas and experiences, before scaling them across clients, categories and global markets. At the same time, partnerships with educational institutions and other industry players will seek to uplift the local tech and innovation ecosystem.

The Lab will also play a central role in shaping the agency’s future talent strategy. Under the leadership of Mandy Goh, Head of Talent and Human Resources, TBWA\Singapore, the Lab will operate as a training and incubation platform for the hybrid skillsets the industry will require over the next 12 to 18 months, blending creativity, technology, systems thinking, and cultural intelligence.

"The Innovation Lab gives us a live environment to train, experiment, and incubate talent for the roles the agency and our clients will need next, not just the ones that exist today," she said.

This will include upskilling existing talent, developing new career pathways, and incubating roles that do not yet formally exist, as the agency works to ensure its clients are prepared for what’s next rather than reacting to it.

Junie Fo, Vice President and Head of Professional Services, EDB added that the Innovation Lab will harness AI in both marketing and advertising to support businesses, whilst partnering with the Institutes of Higher Learning to equip talent to be AI-savvy.
