Yeo Hiap Seng to cease operations in Senoko facility; 25 affected employees to receive retrenchment benefits and support

The move comes after a consolidation of can manufacturing to Malaysia's Johor and Selangor facilities, allowing full capacity utilisation and strengthening overall manufacturing efficiency across the Group's network.

Yeo Hiap Seng (Yeo's) will be streamlining operations of its can manufacturing to Malaysia, affecting 25 employees at it Senoko facility in Singapore. 

In a media statement on 31 March 2026, the Group said the consolidation will enable its Johor and Selangor facilities to "optimise capacity
utilisation and strengthen overall manufacturing efficiency across its network."

However, the Group has assured that the current Senoko facility in Singapore will continue to serve as the Group's headquarters, cross-border logistics
hub, and smaller-scale manufacturing centre.

It also stated that affected employees will receive retrenchment benefits, as agreed on with the Union and in line with the Ministry of Manpower’s Tripartite Advisory on Managing Excess Manpower and Responsible Retrenchment, on top of providing them with job placement assistance, career guidance, and counselling support.

These benefits are said to correspond with each employee’s salary and years of service.

"Wherever possible, opportunities for open roles within Yeo’s Malaysia will be offered."

Yeo's also said that it has worked closely with the Food, Drinks and Allied Workers Union to ensure the package and transition support reflect appreciation for the contributions of affected staff.

This news comes following recent updates on similar measures taken in the industry, with Asia Pacific Breweries Singapore announcing last week its shift to an import-based supply model over the next two years. About 130 roles were impacted by the move.
