Winning Secrets: Reimagining recruitment, employee lifecycle management, and engagement at TDCX Philippines

The group's strategy is to understand the changing market and candidate behaviours to implement alternative solutions, shares Vanessa Maningas, Vice President – People Department, TDCX Philippines.

In establishing a new sense of normalcy in hybrid arrangements when setting up its wellness programme, TDCX Philippines made sure to listen to the sentiment of its employees — including all observations, opinions, and suggestions.

Even beyond wellness, the group – a provider of business process outsourcing services in customer experience – continues to build on the quality and impact of its career development programmes and employee engagement initiatives. This effort has landed the team several awards at the first-ever HR Excellence Awards 2022, Philippines

  • Gold - Excellence in Corporate Wellness
  • Bronze - Excellence in Employer Branding
  • Gold - Excellence in Talent Acquisition
  • Bronze - Excellence in Digital Transformation

Vanessa Maningas, Vice President – People DepartmentTDCX Philippines, shares how the team is elevating the employee experience, noticing decreased medical costs and a boost in productivity in the process.

Q Congratulations on the achievement! Could you take us through the highs and lows of your winning strategy?

TDCX’s key strategic objectives have contributed to our successes this year – from elevating our user experience, standardising and localising HR processes, to deploying and training our teams to manage these changes. Our strategy is to understand the changing market and candidate behaviours to implement alternative solutions. Our digital assessment platform can now be accessed by various stakeholders across different devices.

We have also resumed our onsite recruitment, along with our online recruitment, to allow more people into the funnel. We value candidate experience as much as employee experience, so we continue our efficiency in this aspect. COVID-19-related concerns such as physical and mental health have been some of our challenges. To address these, we reformulated our total rewards to adapt to the essential health and wellness needs of our employees.

Q How did the HR team identify and align the business & employee needs, and craft this perfect solution?

We partnered with our stakeholders and conducted a series of planning sessions, designing and discussing the benefits of utilising our proprietary tool, Flash Suite. Our goal was to reimagine recruitment, employee lifecycle management, learning, coaching, engagement, and recognition to ensure the wellbeing of our employees and candidates.

One crucial step in preparing a well-planned wellness programme is listening to the sentiments of employees.

We made sure that their observations, opinions, and suggestions are considered, especially as we establish a new sense of normalcy in work-from-home and hybrid setups.

Q Could you share the results that your strategy has delivered – be it on the business, HR, or people side?

We embrace our #BeMore culture in executing our strategic objectives, and as a result, TDCX has been recognised as one of the best places to work. We continue to build on the quality and impact of our career development programmes, employee engagement initiatives, and wellbeing activities so our employees can accelerate their careers and pursue their personal interests.

Our Flash Suite has helped us immensely during the pandemic as it allowed us to operate 100% virtually in the following: sourcing, hiring, onboarding, managing performance, career development, talent succession planning, career ambassadors’ engagement, and overall employee experience.

Since the implementation of our various health and wellness programmes, there has been a significant decline in utilising medical benefits, a remarkable indication that our programmes help our employees live happier and healthier lives. Aside from decreased medical costs, we have also seen a big boost in productivity.

Q What is your message to all the stakeholders who have supported you in this journey?

Our digital transformation journey would not have been successful without the support of our stakeholders.

We are grateful for their trust, and the collaboration from teams across different departments and locations who have helped us accelerate our HR transformation.

The support and feedback from our stakeholders have been crucial in this endeavour, and the total rewards – wellbeing team is very thankful for this partnership.

Our collaborative dynamic has brought us to a place of pride, and we aim to continuously provide world-class HR solutions and elevate employee experiences, so we can #BeMore at work and in our personal lives.

Q What are you most excited about when you think about the future of HR?

We’re excited to execute more digital strategies to promote agility in our HR processes. The future of HR is all about predictive analytics and automation. These will allow us a more efficient way to conduct HR activities without sacrificing the human component of our operations. With the introduction of a hybrid work set-up, we are excited to design and plan strategic wellbeing programmes that will further drive engagement, satisfaction, and affinity to the TDCX brand. We’re ready to #BeMore in making HR a strategic partner to all our stakeholders.
