In her new role, Dexter will support growth in the North Asia region while driving HR strategy execution across Asia.
Stavia Dexterina (Dexter) (pictured above) has taken on a new challenge at Orica, stepping into the role of Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) for Northern Asia and Group Function Asia. She was previously with Nokia, where she served as Country People Manager for Indonesia and Bangladesh.
In her new role at Orica, Dexter oversees the North Asia market, which includes but is not limited to Mongolia, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, with Pakistan being a potential new market on the horizon, she shares with HRO.
Beyond this, she is also working closely with Ayu N Kencana, Vice President of HR for Asia, to lead various strategic HR projects across Asia as part of the end-to-end HR strategy execution. Their shared goal is to ensure HR efforts support business growth while delivering on promises made to employees.
Reporting directly to the VP HR, the Jakarta-based leader also acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to the North Asia business leader, helping shape HR strategies tailored to each business needs.
With the North Asia region identified as a key growth area for Orica, Dexter recognises that change and uncertainty will be constants in the year ahead. She highlights the need to remain both resilient and agile in responding to shifting market needs.
"This involves adapting to the rapidly changing landscape of work and the evolving needs of our people," she says.
For her, the priority lies in ensuring that all HR strategies are aligned with market demand while staying true to Orica’s values.
A top priority for the year ahead is developing a strong talent pipeline. This includes upskilling current employees and improving hiring strategies to better attract and retain high-performing talent.
She is also involved in driving Orica’s move to an HR services model, aimed at improving service efficiency and effectiveness for the business, while reducing the cost to serve. Dexter noted that the transformation of the HR shared services model is not perfect yet but sees it as a crucial part of the company’s journey. She stressed the importance of balancing cost efficiency with employee experience, particularly in today’s increasingly dynamic labour market.
"We are committed to finding the best service model to support Orica employees effectively," she affirms.
