In his new capacity, Nishi will lead the region’s human resources agenda, joining both MUFG’s APAC Regional Executive Committee and the Global HR Leadership Team.
MUFG Bank has appointed Nishidaran Chandran (pictured above) as Managing Director & Chief Human Resources Officer for Asia Pacific (CHRO-APAC), marking a major step up for the HR leader after eight years with the bank.
Nishidaran, also known as Nishi, will take on the CHRO-APAC role effective 11 May 2026. Previously based in Malaysia, he will now be based in Singapore and will join both MUFG’s APAC Regional Executive Committee and the Global HR Leadership Team.
Nishi joined the bank in June 2018 as Vice President, Human Resources for Malaysia, before being promoted to Head of HR for MUFG Malaysia in April 2021. In July 2025, his remit widened further to include HR oversight for Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines and the Myanmar cluster.
In his new regional role, Nishi will lead MUFG’s people agenda across Asia Pacific, working closely with business leaders as the bank continues to grow and transform in the region.
Yukinobu Saeki, Chief Executive for Asia Pacific at MUFG Bank, said Nishi's appointment reflects the bank’s APAC succession planning and its confidence in the region as a core growth market alongside Japan.
"His deep regional experience and leadership will be instrumental in advancing our people strategy in support of our long-term growth ambitions in the region.” Saeki commented.
