Up the ranks: McCann Worldgroup APAC appoints Gayatheri Silvakumer as Regional CTO

Prior to McCann Worldgroup, Gayatheri was at Vice Media, where she held the position of Senior Director, HR AMEA. She will be replacing outgoing officer Makarand Tare.

McCann Worldgroup Asia Pacific, a leading global market solutions network, has appointed Gayatheri Silvakumer as its new regional Chief Talent Officer, effective immediately. Based in Singapore (which is the APAC HQ), she is replacing outgoing officer Makarand Tare.

“The first thing that drew my attention to McCann Worldgroup was their mission statement – We help brands earn a meaningful role in people's lives,” said Gayatheri.

That, she shares, is very much in line with her personal mission and aspiration as an HR professional—which is to assist employees in earning a meaningful role in their professional lives.

In her current role, Gayatheri will be reporting to Alex Lubar, President, McCann Worldgroup Asia Pacific, and also to Global Chief Talent Officer, Marjan Panah. Her APAC-wide remit covers Australia, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, India, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan, and the Philippines.

With an accumulated 20 years of talent experience and knowledge across Malaysia, India, and the UK, Gayatheri has held senior HR roles in various industries across media, automotive, transportation and communication covering the APMEA region, such as Rolls-Royce Singapore and Bombardier Transportation.

Some of her contributions include change management, talent management and workforce development; in them, Gayatheri has also led HR initiatives in areas such as recruitment, training, and diverse professional development, as well as DEI programmes.

Prior to McCann Worldgroup, Gayatheri was at Vice Media, where she held the position of Senior Director, HR AMEA.

“I am delighted,” Lubar shared, “to have Gayatheri joining our team. As the #1 ranked creative network in Asia Pacific for people & diversity, talent management is incredibly important to us. We know Gayatheri will help build on the momentum we have and ensure we continue to put people at the heart of our business.”
