In this role, her top priority will be to develop, implement, and monitor HR strategies and initiatives that align with the company’s overall business strategy.

Biomed Global, an organisation in the biomedical and life science industry, has appointed Valerie Wan (pictured above) as Group Head of Talent Management, effective June 2023.

Based in Malaysia, Wan has taken on the role of providing support for top management to handle the full spectrum of human resources strategies, practices, and processes.

Speaking to HRO, Wan shared that in this new role, she will be reporting to the group’s Chief Operating Officer, and her top priority will be to develop, implement, and monitor HR strategies and initiatives which are aligned with the company’s overall business strategy.

Wan's immediate past role was as HR Manager, SINMAL at Astellas Pharma Malaysia following a merger of the Singapore & Malaysia business units, for three years since 2020. While, there, she was also the Interim HRBP Lead for Southeast South Asia.

As a professional in the field for many years, a top talent concern she has, as she tells us, is the prevalent skill shortage incurred due to factors such as rapid technological advancements, evolving job requirements, and limited availability of talent with specific expertise.

On the other hand, one area of opportunity that stands out to her today is the ability to develop talent in line with cultural transformation at the workplace.
