Aligning HR strategy with business objectives requires creative approaches and innovative methods that can satisfy commercial aims and workforce needs. What are those approaches and why are they necessary? HR directors and talent management professionals from internationally recognised companies in Asia will lay down the details at Talent Management Asia, the region’s premier human capital and business strategy conference.
Talent Management Asia 2017 is a two-day conference happening in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Manila in March 2017. The annual event is attended by chief talent officers and senior HR professionals from the biggest companies in Asia.
“Developing an HR agenda that mirrors the vision of the company will be critical in the long run,” said Aditi Sharma Kalra, regional editor of Human Resources magazine. “Talent Management Asia 2017 will impart strategies that can boost the role of HR in advancing organisational and business goals.”
Talent Management Asia will explore the most pressing issues organisations and HR practitioners are currently facing today, such as global talent management outlook, compensation & benefits strategy, employee retention, and organisational effectiveness.
This is how one of the topics, HR as a business partner, will be presented:
In the leader’s panel discussion entitled “Understand talent needs while keeping market reality in mind,” speakers will clarify the link between talent strategy and business outcomes. Different ways to establish collaboration between HR and managers in merging talent and business plans will be discussed. The other topics include keeping the leadership team committed, the role of change management, and prediction of talent needs by 2020. The panellists include Farid Basir, chief human capital officer at Bank Rakyat, Marcela Mihanovich, Citi’s chief human resources officer, Christopher Ong, managing director at DHL Express, and Bryan Loo, chief executive officer of Loob.Loo will also lead a case study presentation entitled “Creating internal talent development strategies to achieve successful long-term business goals” wherein systems, principles, and processes of formulating development plans to achieve business success will be examined.
The breakout stream on leadership and development will focus on nurturing top talent for future business. This interactive roundtable session “Grooming talent for future role in your organisation” will be led by Chella Pandian, human resources director at MSD, Rebecca Khor, head of human resources at BNP Paribas, and Haikal Akmar, corporate director of human resources at UOA Hospitality.
Another case study will zero in on re-establishing HR as a driver of business growth. This presentation entitled “Organisational change: How can HR be an effective change agent to accomplish business plan and objectives?” will provide delegates a comprehensive look at the key messages and elements that need to be communicated during the process. The ways to measure business impact and workforce productivity during and after implementation will be explored.
For his keynote presentation “Change management – HR as a catalyst for business growth,” Teddy Liu, general manager corporate and talent development at New World Development, will share his experience and observations on how decisions are shaped when it comes to aligning HR functions with where the business is headed. How to structure a new approach and optimise processes for HR will also be discussed.
