After a spectacular inauguration in Hong Kong last year, Talent Management Asia 2016 returned to the city again this week, bringing together senior HR leaders from around the world.

During the two-days conference at The Mira, Hong Kong, some of the smartest HR minds in Asia, and globally shared their insights on the most pressing issues faced by HR professionals in a series of keynote speeches, case study sharing and panel discussions.

One of the highlights of the conference was a keynote session by NiQ Lai, CFO and co-owner, Hong Kong Broadband Network. The company revealed it takes an innovative approach in managing talent by making turning employees into co-owners.

"You never get rich working for an entrepreneur, you get rich working with a entrepreneur," said Lai on the co-ownership model of the company.

Compliance is another pressing challenge faced by HR, as companies are operating in an increasingly complex environment.

"Non-compliance goes deeper than fines. Companies invested a lot in compliance and are very willing to reward whistle-blowers," said Steve Young, general manager, NetDimensions Asia Pacific in his presentation on the importance of compliance management.

The conference also touched on how technology is going to impact the HR community.

Piotr Feliks Grzywacz, founder and CEO, Pronoia Group urged HR to think ahead, with disruptive technology, new businesses are changing the common sense of industries.

In his presentation, he shared the top five technologies in the world that will revolutionise the business world-industrial robots, drones , 3D sensors, 3D printing, DNA sequencing.

In her keynote presentation, Elaine Chan, chief health officer, general insurance, Zurich Hong Kong shares how digitalised employee benefits are able to drive efficiency.

"With mobile technology, employees can easily check their benefits and monitor status of claim on the go. It also saves HR time in handling insurance claims enquiries from employees," she said.
