Most popular destinations for working abroad

Among cities/states studied, Singapore emerged a top choice, with people from 13 countries including Japan, Malaysia, and South Korea searching for Singapore-related jobs.

According to Google Search Volume, Canada is the most popular country to emigrate to for work.

By analysing the average monthly search volume for matching term keywords like “jobs” and “work” (using translation where necessary), Givetastic's recent study was able to determine the dream destinations to work abroad for almost every country. 

As the top search in 56 out of 164 countries, Canada is the most popular option for over a third of the world’s countries (34.1%).

This was followed by Germany, topping the search volume charts in 13 countries including Turkey, Poland, Croatia, and the Czech Republic.

The Gulf state of Qatar also seems to be a notable destination for those building their careers as it tops the search volume charts in 11 countries such as Algeria, Egypt, and Pakistan. Other popular options include the UK, Spain, Switzerland, Australia, and the US.

With this, the full list of the top 10 most popular countries to emigrate to for work are as follows:

Going further, the study also identified the most popular cities, states, and regions to emigrate to for work-related reasons.

Using the same method, Dubai tops the list as the most popular city to emigrate to for work — the top search in 69 out of 150 countries, almost half the world’s countries (46%).

Quebec comes in second, as the top search in 28 out 150 countries including Colombia, Mexico, Morocco and Cameroon.

The city-state of Singapore is another top choice for potential emigrants with 13 countries including regional counterparts Japan, Malaysia, and South Korea searching for Singapore-related jobs.

Miami, London, New York, Melbourne, Barcelona, and Dubrovnik also make the top 10 list. The full list is as follows:
