Now in its 13th year, the HR Excellence Awards spotlight the strategies and initiatives that are shaping the nation’s workforce in a time of rapid change. From embracing digital transformation and flexible work models to driving employee wellbeing and future-ready talent development, this year’s finalists showcase how HR is powering business growth and resilience across Malaysia.

The 2025 jury panel brings together an esteemed group of senior HR leaders from some of Malaysia’s leading organisations: BAT Digital Business Services Kuala Lumpur, Danone Business Services, Dexcom Malaysia, IPG Mediabrands, Lattice Semiconductor, Lotuss Malaysia, Mah Sing Group, Matthews International, Maxis, Mizuho Bank (Malaysia), Moët Hennessy, OCBC Bank Malaysia, Pos Aviation, Sibelco, Synthomer, UCT, VAT Manufacturing Malaysia, Volvo Group Malaysia, and Wipro Consumer Care & Lighting.

Speaking to HRO, a few of the judges shared their thoughts on the entries and the overall process:

Umasuten Karisnan, Head of HR, Lattice Semiconductor:

"This year’s submissions once again raised the bar for HR best practices. I was particularly impressed by the bold breakthroughs and thought-provoking approaches organisations are using to engage, develop, and retain their people."

Debica Sigamani, Chief Talent Officer, IPG Mediabrands:

"The level of competition was extraordinary. Some organisations built seamlessly on strong foundations, proving the value of consistency and focus. Others pushed boundaries with bold, original ideas that made us take notice, while many led with heart, showing that compassion can be as impactful as innovation."

Sharmeel Kaur, Vice President, Volvo Group Malaysia:

"Many entries demonstrated a clear structure and strong alignment between HR strategies and business goals, with unique strengths shining through. However, I believe there is still room for HR to push further into sustainability, especially in addressing global challenges such as climate change and building future-ready workplaces."
